OK so if I understand this correctly the problem is the registration key.
If so it should be easy enough to contact Peter for a solution or, unless you absolutely need it , use the unregistered version.
Just make sure the .key is in the correct place that is mentioned in the fsuipc install instructions.

On the program itself. You have exactly what I have, which is nothing.
What I would suggest is that under options you set the meta-feed to NOAA as this has worked flawlessly for me.

The way the program works is that you don't need to set up your start point as it picks up where you are, and as you fly your location changes to the nearest metar station, which is most medium/big airfields plus specialist places. If you fly you will see that the ICAO nearest your position will change and so will the weather every time it loads.
At the moment the weather updates between every 10-60 mins but you can set lower than that by altering the fsrealwx.ini using a text editor the parm is under the [General] section and I have mine set to :-
Weatherupdate=05
If you want to reduce the time it takes to download, decode and send the weather to FS9 then alter the Set WX of position in NM. I currently have mine set to 120nm, which can also be set in the .ini file.

I don't know exactly what you mean by moving far away. Each place will have different weather and therefore if you jump around you will probably get immediate differences but you shouldn't get that if you are flying.
The trouble is when you go from one weather area to another the lite program will switch straight away. It maybe that fsuipc will have some smoothing function to limit the speed of the change but that will only be in the registered version.

You could try to eliminate the weather updates by only changing every 60 mins but you will need to ensure that the area of weather downloaded will cover at least an hours flight time.
For example if you are traveling at 360KTAS/GS then you are traveling at 6nm p/m. Which means in an hour you will travel 360nm so your weather range will have to be at 360nm.

At the end of the day is a no longer supported lite version of the program. My guess is that the latest payware versions will have weather smoothing. Whether you decide it is worth upgrading is entirely up to you.

As for what is displayed to be honest you don't need to worry about it. What you see in the top window is an automatic observation in standard metar format. This is translated in human in the bottom left box.
If there is a manual observation it will appear in the window under the metar.

I generally set the program going as soon as I ask FS9 to load an airfield, buit you can set it going first or later on. If there appears to be no weather in game just hit the set all wx button and it will download the latest and send it to FS9 immediately.

I hope this helps.
Steve

Re: FSX Real Weather

Post by Jive1 »

Hey!
Good day to all.
After many years flying on FS9, but I could no longer have Real Weather there, I decided to swich to FSX. So I've installed FSX now and am trying to set it up with all necessary addons abd sceneries etc...
My first question: I cannot, here again, obtain real weathar, because my FSX tells that "an error occured while downloading Real-World Weather. Please check Internet connection and configuration and try again".

I check Internet connetion and that seems OK. But possibly the configuration may be not OK. Where can I check configuration in this respect?

If you are trying to use the default weather engine inside FSX it won't work. Microsoft has removed the servers that it tries to contact.

Can I suggest you try a different weather program.

I am using FSXWX on both FSX and P3D
http://www.plane-pics.de/fsxwx/home.htm

If you follow the (simple) installation procedure you should have success.

I see on thispage http://www.plane-pics.de/fsxwx/instructions-fsx.htm that I need FSX and FSUIPC and Framework 3.5
I have them installed, except Framework, but I guess that is not necessaru with Windows 10?
Do I have to execute also the wxmapping.bin and the 5 textures as explained under the further instructions and theThermalDescriptions.xml ?

If it says that you need .Net 3.5 then you do need it.
3.5 is installed in Windows 10 just not activated. A quick search on the internet will show you how to activate it.
Here is an MS one https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet ... windows-10
