Not sure if its a model related error but at EGUN...im not seeing any tail stand or cargo door models with tail stand or door visible even tho the specific aircraft in the cfg entry has the correct model defined....also..maybe related...but aircraft when landing are passing the central turn offs rolling for approx. 50 ft further then turning around on the runway and taxing to the available turning point...ill try to attach screen shots later.

T., let me try to respond to your feedback:
- The amount of tail stand / cargo door models being spawned is also controlled by the flight plan so you could alter it with AI Flight Planner.

- The cargo door models only have the cargo door open during the pre flight / post flight phase (same as the crew hatch/ladder). In FSX/P3D the pre flight / post flight phases have a random duration of 1 - 15 minutes so it is possible you do not see any doors open when you launch a flight.

- Everyone with Notepad can tweak landing roll out distance by adjusting the following Aircraft.cfg values:
[brakes] - toe_brakes_scale: Higher value gives shorter roll out distance.
[airplane_geometry] - spoiler_limit: Higher value gives shorter roll out distance.

thanks for the explanation of the preflight tag.

id already adjusted the brakes to 0.1 to let them roll longer...will increase that a tad and see if it helps...been searching all about for any afcads that may be affecting as it was driving me nuts.

I don't have a problem, but I do have a question.

Can I put everything in the RAF Airseeker folder (except for the air file and the cfg file) into the RC-135W Rivet Joint folder?

This is not the first time you have asked this type of question.

To work the answer out just use a compare proggy on the two aircraft.cfg files.
If the text is the same below the obviously different fltsim sections then yes they can be merged.

If not, e.g. effect file, contact points, lights then no you can't merge them.

I just did a side by side comparison of the cfg files and all the numbers are the same. So I combined the two.

That is it. It is that simple.
You can download freeware, and portable, apps that will highlight the differences for in colour to make things even quicker.
One such is Winmerge.

What was the difference between the refueling air file and the normal air file? I have flightpans for the Turkish KC-135's and there are two separate plans for refueling and normal. I looked at the plans and they are both the same.

The refueling .air files are set up so that the aircraft doesn't exceed about 250kts at cruise which allows you to catch up to them fairly easily for air to air refueling. The non-refueling .air files allow them to fly at their normal cruising speeds for going from A to B.

Does that mean that refueling model is for UI aircraft? That what it sounds like to me.

A quick question: is the _L.bmp files in the texture folders (leftovers from the old FS9 files) needed any more?

Thanks -

I have a quick question. Where can I find the AI models for the MAIW_MGAI_KC-135R aircraft?

Thanks Robert

In the downloads section.
Probably the simplest way to find it is to search for 'MGAI'

Hey guys, not a major issue, but I noted that the XC-135 models tend to park in spaces way smaller than they should. It looks like they want to use parking spots with model radius appropriate for fighter jets. Not a problem at their home bases where they use coded parking, but a bit goofy in transient spots.

clickclickdo, we forgot to convert the aircraft.cfg wing_span which still has the fs9 value of 45.8 ft, way too narrow for FSX (gives 7 meter as minimum parking spot size). If you change wing_span to 145 ft ( = 23 meter minimum parking spot size), the problem should be fixed.

Be warned that the change that Henk suggests will alter various parms for the aircraft.

In particular the descent flap settings, the maximum ceiling and the cruise speed. The other thing it does is reduce the rate of climb and increase the braking distance. That size of increase in the wingspan could result in some dramatic changes.

Yeah, I noted with a prior model that adjusting the wingspan caused things to get all wibbley wobbley. A bunch of settings would need to be rebalanced for the new wingspan.

As a sloppy fix, I'm looking at trying to ID all the XC-135 visitors to the specific location and hard coding them some parking spots of the appropriate size.

It's only really a problem at bases that have small Mil_Cargo spots, so keep an eye open anywhere that has King Air, Gulfstream or V-22 traffic.
