HMS Ocean - PHM Atlantico

Post by kl791 »

Hi
First post here on MAIW despite having used the MAIW packages for years, so maybe a great THANKS is an appropriate start :D

Next, I am just finalizing the HMS Ocean - now PHM Atlantico of the Brazilian navy - to be included in my project Global AI Ship Traffic, which some of you might now from other sites.

If you are interested in testing the Beta of the HMS Ocean is available here for a limited time:

In case someone is interested in including it in a MAIW project I would be happy to provide source files. I also have a few hundred other navy ships available...

E.g. Type 45...

or French Floreal frigate...

The Brazilians must have put a layer of fresh paint :D
If you served on her, you might be able to help with the last missing detail - night illumination - which kind of lights are there on the deck and where are they located - I haven't been able to find more than one picture with some landing lights turned on, but the angle is hopeless.

I can compile a model yes - but I can't test it as I haven't got FS9.

I'm afrain I can be of no help with that. At night the Flight deck was usually out of bounds and being a Comms guy I was a bit of a Troglodyte and rarely ventured outside.

That looks really cool! I just downloaded your AI ships package a few minutes ago. I am excited to see them in the sim (screenshots look really nice!)

Lovely models well done. Is it possible for you to compile your ships for FS9 and FSX please.

Thanks - they are all compiled for FSX and P3D - as mentioned above I will compile the HMS Ocean / PHM Atlantico for FS9, however at the moment I am on business travel in China and it probably won't be before sometime next month that I can get to do it and upload - from here in China upload to the usual Western sites is complicated... To compile and test all ships for FS9 would be a big job - more than 1000 models...

Henrik, it is great to see you here!

I always hoped for more naval ships in your package. And am greatly enjoying that happening since some time.

Thanks for all you do for the flightsim seas!

From mobile hence short

Cheers,
Martin

Fabulous work. It must be a real pleasure not to have to be restrained by a polygon count because there is nothing these AI ships can really interfere with performance-wise. What good use you have put that freedom to.

Thanks... and yes it gives an advantage to be out at sea with no competition from a lot of heavy sceneries or hundreds of AI planes at a big airport... Still I always try to keep at least the drawcall to a minimum... Sometimes the ships do get to a harbor and then I hate to be the guilty one...

Very cool. I can't wait for more ship packs from you, Henrik!

Oh and you gotta love the shadows on that Norwegian barque. That's P3D in all its glory. :smt060

:D Yes, the sim has come a long way after LM took over...

Sørlandet - the Norwegian barque - is part of a tall ship race between Norway, Denmark and Sweden...

Further South the Royal Navy is leaving Gibraltar...

The Captain probably didn't get many points for that one…

but eventually they do get in line...

Thanks, but I guess that it would be wise to finish what I have started first... Two years already on this update...
