Gents,
I thought that I would give you all a heads up, as sometimes things get missed.

Miljan has sent a package to Hangar for release. It is for the current Serbian fleet (apparently 4 more joining within in the next year but no serials known yet).
There are 3 versions and one sub version included in the pack.

Now here is the thing. Miljan is getting short on available time to do any modelling. So to do any other versions he really needs to know that it will be worth his while. So if you want to see things like the MiG-29SMT, the MiG-29K/KUB and even the MiG-29G/GT etc he needs to see some commitment from people to ensure that his time is not wasted.

Now to head off any 'I would like to see ...' posts I should mention that he knows that I would like to see every MiG-29 produced in game. I know that this is stretching things but the point is the user likes are covered.
What he needs to see is that people are going to produce schemes/plans for his models. Even if you can only paint schemes to use existing flight plans for other Fulcrum models.

After his original post one person contacted him. He kinda needs more support that this. Me personally I would love to see the retro Luftwaffe schemes on his models, not to mention the Indian AF and Indian Navy birds. Those Polish ones are great candidates as are the Peruvian ones ... and I could go on for ages (and probably will).

I know it was hard to commit time to something that was a future project but now it is here. Modellers have more than enough people wanting their stuff. What really makes them feel that their efforts have been worth while is when people are productive with their output.

Modellers have always been rarer than painters (who are also rare these days) each one that slips away is very hard to replace.

I suppose the sound bite is 'use him, or lose him'.

Thanks for listening.
Steve

Hello.

Already, I will start with a HUGE THANK YOU to Miljan for this MiG-29, but also for all his other models.

Regarding the MiG-29, I'm not especially fan of retro packs. I prefer what is flying now.

It is obvious that a Polish pack will be welcome.
But in my opinion, our eastern skies are a little poor. A series of MiG-29 North Koreans would bring a bit of exoticism.
The different Indian versions are, in my opinion, unavoidable.
But there are also the new SMT versions as just acquired Egypt. The Iranians (who are well in the news).
As are the devices operating in the Horn of Africa (Yemen ...).
Further west, there are Peruvians.

And to use with the add-on of the Russian aircraft carrier, there is also the Russian naval version.

One thing is certain, no matter what Miljan produces, his work will be magnificent.

I see his achievements on his Facebook page (MKAI).

Thank you.

Everything you said is welcome.
What we need though is people committing to produce schemes for the various air arms you mention, and more. Requests are always nice to gauge about the popularity of a model/aircraft.
Miljan is in a stage of his life that available time is less than before. He can't produce models, packs and schemes any more.

If people produce schemes for his models, he will model. If they don't, he won't. I personally think that there is nothing so sad as a model that nobody uses especially when the aircraft itself is/was so widely used.

This thread has made me think. I am sure that time is an increasingly precious commodity for many, but I also suspect that there are some like myself who dabble but may not feel their work is of a high enough standard to share it.

Maybe we should lose some of those inhibitions. Personally I agree with Steve about the Luftwaffe retro schemes; I am willing to try those. If there is a paintkit so much the better.

I understand that personnal time must be more important than modelling.

Like John's C-130, it's good to have some specific versions. But a generic will be welcom, with larger possibilities for repaints.

For exemple, an early version of a MiG-29, and a two seater. Just some variation with the payload.A second model for the new SMT version, always ith several payloads. And a third vesion, for navalized Fulcrum.

You limit the modelling on only 3 versions, juste some variations with payload. In fact, 3 generics versons.

Jon,
To be honest I don't think that you are not too different from most people. I think that everybody has a barrier that they have to overcome to release their first schemes/models/scenery/flight plans.
The only way that you can gain confidence is too actually do it. I think that what you are proposing, the retro Luftwaffe ones is not a bad choice. You have a limited number, one unit, and you have not committed yourself to anything more.
There will be a full paintkit released to aid you.

I should point out that Miljan taught himself everything. He started with schemes and then went into modelling. He gained confidence with each thing he produced. I am sure that if he has any tips for a new painter he would be willing to pass them on to you. Contact him directly and he will let you know about the paintkit and any info that might be useful to start.

On the second post from TheFouFure I can say something about the models in the pack.
The Project names of the models produced are the 9.13A/B (MiG-29A Fulcrum-A) Warsaw Pact and non-Warsaw Pact versions. The 9.13 (MiG-29S Fulcrum-C) and the 9.51 (MiG-29UB Fulcrum-B). There are a total of 8 models. So as you can see some painting opportunities are there straight off.
Things like the MiG-29G/GT are based on the A/UB respectively and if there is a commitment to do them then Miljan will look to see whether any changes or weapon fits are necessary.

I can not and will not make promises on what he will do but, as already stated, it will depend upon the interest shown. He will not do about 50 minor variants of the same version but there may be some that will be necessary. I will leave that up to him. I know he is thinking at least about the 9.17 and 9.51T (SMT and UBT).

To be honest if there were 10 people who each did one unit or air arm that would be a massive boost for all users. If we were to exceed that and get 20 or even 30 people doing the same not only would we utilise the full range of the model but we would also have 30 people with enough confidence that they could do other small projects. That would be massive boost for the hobby in general.

To support Steve's post.

I would be more than willing to help with paint tips, not that I know everything, but I am still willing to learn.

Most of the magic is relatively simple when the smoke and mirrors are removed.
Like most things in life there are folks with genuine talent and then there are the rest of us who learn as we go along.

Taking the bold step to contribute is the first step to getting more out of the hobby.

One contribution leads to another contribution by someone else and so on.

Since all major parts are in same scale in paintkot I will provide measuring squares that will help alot with determining the size of roundels flags and bort. Most of this informations about the size is available through the internet and it's easy to scale them down.

Still some kinks to iron out on the paint scheme.

Looks good John . I realised that Russia uses 2 different versions of SMT. Latest models have some of equipment that is used for UPG specifically ( ones based in Astrakhan)
