AI Il-18, Il-20, Il-22 & Il-38

Post by TheFoufure »

Hello,

On avsimrus.com, there is a new AI aircraft model. This model is produced with a lot of variants.

There are some Il-18, some Il-20, some Il-22 and some Il-38 for Russian Navy. All models are with multiple variantes (exemple, two models of Il-38).

The AI models are for FSX. But I use them in FS9 (I've converted all DDS textures to DXT3 BMP, and updated my MDL file with a HexEditor to set the BMP files instead of DDS files).

Here is the links for the FSX AI models :

Thanks for the heads up regarding these models,

But how do you make these FSX models show up in FS9?

I get an error message that the mdl file cannot be loaded. I tested it with the AI-IL-18\model.il18d\d\ model
Hexeditor shows MDLXMDLH which means it is a true FSx model and no FS9 portover

I succesfully changed the texture format in the model from DDS to BMP.
(The modified model shows up AI model viewer and it confirms that the model is looking for a BMP texture instead of the DDS texture.)

Can someone post a screenshot of these models? I would like to see what they look like. The author should of included some preview shots of the models but didn't.

I'll be interested in how to port FSX models to FS9 too.

Here's a screenshot of the Il-38 taken in MCX. The package itself is an old payware product from a couple of years back so it's decent in terms of quality. The textures from the old Pavel Hvatkin (CalClassic) models sort of work on them as well, although the flight deck is completely different so whilst it is compatible it sort of isn't, unless you're proficient enough to give the paints a face lift.

As for converting it into FS9 my understanding of it is it's not possible at all to convert a true FSX model (which these are) into FS9 for some reason or another, can't explain any further on that sadly

On another note I've also done some quick flightplans for the air force birds at Chkalovsky which I'll upload tonight

A lot of people are curiously waiting for an explanation for that claim.

Are there any other flight plans for the other aircraft based Chkalovsky? I know someome made plans for the special IL-86s based there but I can't find any models.

Did you look in these plans? https://militaryaiworks.com/download-ha ... lightplans

Or you could look in here https://www.avsim.su/forum/topic/29596- ... s/page/44/ (it's the 4th post). Those plans have a lot of Il-18, Il-20, Il-22 and Il-38 aircraft.
