Changes to Aircraft Routings in AI

Post by bvanhout »

The guys over at Alpha-India are making some changes to the way AI behaves.
In FSX we were able to get aircraft to fly SID's/STAR's and fly along airways using AI Controller.
Now it appears AIG are working on something similar with special mention of:

AI traffic will follow waypoints on the route between A and B.
Flights will follow Airways
Sightseeing flights
Patrol-Flights

Hopefully we will be able to utilise this in MAIW to resolve the issues of T&G's in midair.

Watching this and I was a fan of AIController, just installed in P3D. It appears the author has stopped updating the program.

some older news, but I was asked to post them here as well so guys that are not so often over at AIG will see them as well, since they might be a gamechanger for MAIW as well ;)

In the preview we used v4 default SimObjects, but we try to make sure that AI SimObjects will work as well ;) A new update will be released in the new future.

will get you updated when we make more progress. At the moment we have more or less finished the concept phase for the AI Helicopters and found many things we need to adjust on our tools to make the installation as smooth as possbile for our users. During the first tests we also found some bugs in P3Dv4 and v5 that have been reported to LM and we are hoping to get them fixed in the next updates.

For now we try to get Helicopters working in v4 and v5. But there are already some differences we need adjust to, Some features will only work in v5 while other will work in both Simulators.

Next up is to make sure that all needed files will be installable using OCI (first time we actual install airports/helipads ^^)

The waypoint-operatios for airplanes is working fine in v4 and v5.

AIGFP is now supported by AIM 1.0 as well as the fresh public beta of AIGTC. When the first weeks are running without major bug reports from the users I will release more information about the new filestructure.

The new releases do also contain the first FP for AI Helicopters ;)

first "military" flightplan has been released using some of the unique features of AIGFP:

Operating out of ETMN a Do 228 by the German Navy operating the pollution control over Baltic and North Sea.

Flightplan can be installed using OCI (enable AIG Forum crawler in your settings) ;)

Kai, will it be possible eventually for us to create our own flight plans for AIGFP?

sure, so far our internal AIG tools can create such files but I have provided a C#-Library so other developers can add the fileformat to theier tools as well. I have no clue if AIFP will be get an update....

I am still finalizing the documentation so people can write the files using an XML editor.

So far AIGTC only supports AIGFP installed using OCI, but I hope to get 0.4 out later this year that supports manual installed AIGP files as well :)

Interesting stuff! Have you spoken to Don about whether he'll update AIFP to be compatible? He's now got it working for MSFS, and I know you're trying to get your stuff working with it as well. It's all very exciting!

Great continued work on the AI engine, so many possibilities to have the mil AI function accurately. Using both OCI and AIMTC for my civ traffic in P3D.
