Hot off the press.

The JMSDF is ordering 42 F-35Bs for operating off its Izumo class Helicopter Destroyers.

I am guessing that somebody will be having fun with that in a couple of years.

Small correction. All indications right now are that JASDF will actually own the aircraft even though they will be operated off JMSDF ships.

It makes some sense that was since JMSDF has no tactical jet experience or training program.

Fair enough. I made the assumption that it would be the JMSDF but Brent has more of a focus on Japanese things than myself. So I will go with that until the existence of a stealthy ninja marine corps gets revealed.

Hi John,

Have you uploaded a paintkit for the F-35 series anywhere?

Something I've been meaning to do for a while now Dale, so your post has prompted me to do it. The kit was uploaded for inclusion in the library a few minutes ago.

I take it that everybody has seen that the Japanese have ordered more F-35s.

And going to convert their helicopter carriers to be able to host F-35s....

BTW, we Americans need a new LHA class carrier if anyone's got one for sale....

Mike...That comment was priceless, my friend!!! Literally, made my day...On the more serious side, what a mess that fire has made of such a grand ship. It will be interesting to read the investigation reports as they come out in the future...

I am just getting around to installing the F-35 packages and I'm working through a couple of issues. The easiest one first. It appears that the perimeter fence textures for Hill AFB and Luke AFB are missing. There is a black wall around various points of the facility. Is there a way to determine what textures these black scenery objects are looking for? I have the 03 May 2020 changed version of Global Scenery Library Objects. Is there something I am overlooking or missing? Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry it has taken so long for somebody to respond.

I have looked at the Luke scenery in the F-35A package and the perimeter fencing is from FenceLib.bgl, which is included in the scenery. However, the textures for that lib are not included in the scenery texture folder.

I have attached them here. See if that cures your problem.

Thanks for the files and the help Steve, unfortunately the files didn't resolve the issue. To the west of RWY 32 there appears to be an interior fence that snakes through the base. I know enough to be dangerous. In the scenery folder the is a file EZ_Hill InteriorFence.BGL. I'm assuming that this file is calling for a texture. Is there a way to figure out what texture this file is calling for? I have the May 2020 version of MAIW Scenery Library Objects FSX, however is this BGL looking for something else? Is there something I'm missing? Thanks again for the help.

OK I think a couple of clarifications are needed here.
What sim are you using, as your profile says it is FS9 and that is what i am basing my response on.

Secondly, I was talking about Luke specifically, but you are seem to be talking about Hill. Which one would you like to work on first?

Now the point I was making about the FenceLib.bgl used at Luke is that it isn't in the Global Libs. Now having checked the FS9 version of Hill FenceLib.bgl is the one used at Hill as well.
Now I downloaded the FSX package and that lib is in the package but the two textures I mentioned earlier are not.

So it seems that the problem with the Luke scenery is the same. So where did you place the two textures that I attached earlier?

Sorry Steve, I am using FSX. Lets start with Luke. I need to update my profile, I'm sorry for the confusion.

OK that's good. At least we are both looking at the same thing.

So what folder did you put those two textures into?

I placed the DCAfence.bmp and DCADCAfence_lm.bmp files in the MAIW Luke AFB (KLUF) texture folder. I assumed that because both files were bitmaps they belonged in a texture folder, correct?

That is the correct place for them, yes.

So seeing as we have established that it is only the A-10s with the issue, and you now have the textures in the correct place. We check the next thing.

Now the fact that nobody else has reported any issues seems to indicate that it is likely to be your fsx settings. The common cause being dx10 being switched on. Can you confirm that it is switched off?

I've just checked my installation of Luke AFB Steve. The DCAfence.bmp and DCADCAfence_lm.bmp files are not in the Luke/texture folder. They are in my static objects/texture folder - the corresponding folder to the scenery folder where the FenceLib.bgl object library is located. I assume that library is a commonly used one.

It might be worth Paul checking whether the library and the textures are present in the folder he uses for common static object libraries. If the texture is missing from there, adding it might solve the problem.
