FS9 will win... ;-)

A lot of us are still using this old version (and can't produce FSX nor P3D)

The textures can easily be converted, that way everyone wins.

yes they can be converted easy and produced for all 3 sims while your making the textures, I only have 1 sim but produce for all 3, its not hard to save BMP to DXT3 and DDS_DXT5. not everyone knows how to convert files.

No and it would be a daunting task as there are 202 model variants for the Mirage 5 and a gazillion more for the other versions (Mirage 3, Kfir, Dagger, Nesher, Cheetah).

More Mirages

Post by gsnde »

The Mirage family is a candidate to carefully reduce the model plethora.

This is what we are talking about:

MPAI Atlas Cheetah 22 models 78 textures
MPAI Dassault Mirage 5 202 models 433 textures
MPAI Dassault Mirage III 178 models 443 textures
MPAI Dassault Mirage IV 14 models 93 textures
MPAI IAI Dagger 14 models 22 textures
MPAI IAI Kfir 66 models 253 textures
MPAI IAI Nesher 10 models 22 textures

From mobile hence short
Cheers,
Martin

some of the models were just upgrades with very little difference if any to the naked eye, the mirage 5g for Gabon for example there was only 3 ever built and the upgrade mirage 5g-2 only 2 aircraft upgraded 5g's so only 3 airframes ever existed, but Mike made them all.

Yeah, there are a load of small differences which are not immediately apparent.

Just taking Brazil as an example. Mike designated them early and late models, as he often did, but they are in fact different versions. The Early models are officially IIIEBRs whilst the late models are IIIEBR-2s which apart from anything else have canards. The weird thing is that he name the two seaters with the official designation.

If someone is willing to filter out the essential models and narrow the lot down to say ~100 models I am willing to do the conversion. Last year I converted some of the Belgium Mirage V's for my own personal use, they look quite nice in P3D.

I believe the Cheetah's can be reduced to these models:
Cheetah_C_Bombs
Cheetah_C_Intercept
Cheetah_C_Tanks
Cheetah_D_Tanks2 (For some reason the "Tanks" model in MCX doesn't show tanks)

Cheetah_E_Bombs
Cheetah_E_VFR
If further reduction is required the Cheetah E's can be left out. They were only operated a short period of time.
