I have downloaded the 767/707 Tanker package, today.

Where do I find the Slime Lights for the 767? Do the 707s also have Slime Lights inreal life?

John, too late now as I was catching up on some news on scramble.nl and noticed a thread from a spotter visit to the PNW here in the US. Anyway, thanks for continuing to add the new tanker to the sim.

All KC-46A's that were in primer were identified by the Line Numbers.

If you have been there before the following may make sense:
Boeing Factory: Is the north end ramp at the factory exit.
Boeing Paint: Is the north end ramp across from the factory exit.
Boeing Delivery CTR: Is the CTR ramp with the bulk of the airliners awaiting delivery.
Boeing South: Is the southern ramp at 109th Street SW. I believe this used to be BF Goodridge.
Boeing West: Is the western ramp Boeing is using close to the Historic Flight Hangar. Looking at the airfield map this might have been a cross rwy at some point in the past.

Thanks Chris, The paints were done a few weeks ago. I can't possibly keep up with the KC-46A's seen at Boeing and with 117 still to be delivered, the situation is going to be quite fluid and unless that spotter visits and reports regularly, quite difficult to determine.

Using the standard MAIW used website for such info, I found out that there are 16 a/c on the 58th.

Asdro, assuming you mean the KC-46A package and not the Boeing 767 Derivatives package, the answer to your slime lights question is on page 8, section 6, 2nd paragraph of the manual. You can also answer your own question about the 707, assuming you mean KC-135R that is, by looking at a few photographs.

You will also find out how many C-17's are at Altus if you follow the instructions in the KC-10A package, as I said earlier.

Working my way around the airbases in P3Dv4.5 enjoying the updated KC-46 model. Just for others using ORBX global airports, which mostly covers smaller general aviation, ORBX did overhaul KPSM!

I just finished installing this US KC-46 package and I just wanted to say thank you.

Quick question. I noticed in the cfg file it has the line atc_heavy=1. I have the foreign KC-46's installed, should they have that line also?

Good question. Steve and I discussed this. It really depends on the fuel weight of the aircraft and for most missions that would probably make the aircraft use "Heavy" with ATC. So yes, I would be inclined to add it to the foreign KC-46A cfg.

The 'heavy' appellation is for all aircraft of over 136 tonnes MTOW, plus certain aircraft (such as the 757) that give pronounced wake turbulence even below this weight. All 767 derivatives are over 136T, so should (in the US and Canada; nobody else cares much) use the 'heavy' term. It's not a tactically-variable term related to the actual TOW on the day, though I remember RAF VC10 drivers using it (incorrectly) in this way.

Not to go too far off the subject, the 757-200 does not use heavy in the US. The 757-300 is over 255k so they do use heavy as standard. The 757-200 is treated as a heavy in all phases except cruise because the wing creates a huge wake.

Per my brother-in-law (retired USAF ATC and former Senior NCO of the USAF ATC School) the usage of "heavy" has a varied history within the USAF. At various points it was not utilized at all, at others only when arriving/departing civilian airports, and yet again as a constant.

Recently I have listened to a number of ATC transmissions and I have heard it utilized and not utilized, so if there are any folks with current knowledge of the practice in place currently for the USAF, would really like to know the standard.

On another Tanker topic, you may have heard about the Air Force's new Bridge Tanker or "KC-Y" program to compliment the 135s and 46s. Lockheed Martin has partnered with Airbus to launch the LMXT, which is basically the A330 MRTT. Should be interesting for what Boeing or who else might propose and who ends up winning.

In relation to your question having been involved with the package with John I can only point you to the information on the use of heavy in the callsign it's all to do with the distance separation of a following aircraft due to wake turbulence.

I will have a chance to sit down with my brother-in-law at Thanksgiving...got a note to bring this topic back up with him again then. Since retirement he is working as a DoD Contract ATC Controller (same seat he had on active duty at Travis, but a lot more pay)...

Mat, I'm an ex-RAF C-130 pilot and ex-Virgin B747, A330 and A340 pilot. I retired a year ago after 45 years of professional flying; this was my bread-and-butter. The 136T (300,000lb) figure is fixed and isn't variable. The 757 - possibly with the exception of the -200 - is rated as 'heavy' because of its unusual wake. While the basic difference between a medium and heavy category aircraft determines the starting point for calculating the separation in approach traffic, it's been more recently refined to give more explicit guidance. I can't be bothered to look it up now - and I don't think you'd thank me for the current chapter and verse anyway! For the purposes of FS AI traffic, if the aircraft has a maximum TOW of 136 metric tonnes or greater, then it must carry a 'heavy' suffix. The reality of when that suffix is used in practice is essentially this: in the US civil ATC environment, it is always used on first contact. Thereafter, it is down to the individual controller. If he or she uses it, you must use it too. If they drop it, you can too. But you use it again on any change of agency. In the US military environment, as in civil or military environs in almost any other country in the world, ATC takes responsibility for knowing what wake category your aircraft is and don't feel the need to be constantly reminded.

Very well stated...That fits with what my brother-in-law was trying to explain to me as well...sorry for the distraction John and crew.

For the record, I have never "flown" USAF aircraft, I just have lots of experience leaving them before they land...

I would have to agree with Tim... Going back to my days of flying for a certain (dead due to merger) airline with red tails and silver fuselages and the previous paint job of a bowling shoe... I remember plenty of 752s using the callsign heavy due to wake... 76s were always heavy... I also remember hearing plenty of "reach heavy's" over the center freqs...

Hello John,


I have installed all the 62 767-KC-46 in the FS9.
Everything seems to be normal so far.

I like that some textures have dirt on them. For example when I check in KRIV March AFB.
Also the exhaust effect and flaps animations are nice.
What i noticed is that in the bmp you use a 737NG cockpit.
The cockpit in reality is like 787/777-9.
Did you use that 737NG Cockpit on purpose?

C-17 in Altus:

I have installed all C-17 in the east and West package back in autumn in 2015.

Now i see that the C-17 FPs are updated to 2021.

Are the numbers of examples and regs still the same?
Do I just need to assign the aircrafts to their specific registrations?

Animation:

I also want to ask if it is possible to adjust the time for cargo door closing.
In the KC-46 model the door closes in 2 seconds.

Is it possible to extend the time to 10-15 seconds which looks more realistic.
