AW119 Koala

Post by jgowing »

I have just sent some AW119 Koala models for upload, made in Gmax for FS9. This is my second Gmax upload to MAIW after last year's MFI-17, as I hopefully begin to learn a little more.

As before, many thanks to John Young for advice, patience and practical support as I continue to learn. I have made use of his pilots again, plus his AW139 .air file was just right, and the AW139 .cfg file also served as a useful starting point for the AW119. Following recent developments in the understanding of LOD's, I have followed the lead and reduced the number of these to three. Having fewer of them to worry about was a big help, and also a source of encouragement to enable me to get this over the line.

My initial interest was to model the Koala as used by Portugal, but in the course of doing so, it became evident that there are numerous small variations in layout for other operators. I have therefore added a few more models to represent these generically, but I have not tried to faithfully capture every lump and bump.

The Portuguese helicopters include the five in service, plus the two more to which a further commitment has apparently been made, but I have not included repaints for the other models, which I will leave to individual choice and to this end I have created a separate .psd paintkit. I have included flight plans for the Portuguese in-service fleet, mostly based at Beja, for which scenery exists.

I simply numbered the models from one to nine because the differences would have been too cumbersome to describe meaningfully in the model names, but note that model 9 is a nod to the TH-73A Thrasher, not in every detail, but someone might nevertheless like to paint it.

Jon, well done for getting there.

Are you able to post a few screen shots? I can tell you how I do it if that helps.

It's been correctly suggested to me that I should make it easier to understand which variants each model represents. I will therefore update the readme in the zip accordingly.

Could I therefore ask the site administrators not to upload my files until I have done this, please? I will submit an updated zip soon.

Thankyou,

Martin, the aircraft file dated 05 November and the paintkit are fine, the aircraft file dated 04 November should be removed.

I only seem to have models 1 and 2 visalbe in MCX. Anybody else have that issue?

I've attached a view of a WIP paint for the NYPD on Model one.

Thanks in advance.

I have just checked AIAE, which uses the same visual core component of MCX, and they all show up fine - FS9 of course.

I am wondering, that as they are Fs9 models, that if there is no scheme for them they do not show up in MCX. Could this be the case?

I orginally tried model 3 (NYPD per readme) and although the Helicopter was listed, in simulation, there there was nothing at the parking location.

Great looking model, have these been approved for FSX/P3D conversion?

I assume that you used AIFP to create your plans. Does it show any errors? Does AIAE show any?
If the answer to both of those is no then I would check your afcad out. This can make an afcad disappear if there is a traffic logic hole.

I can't vouch for MCX, but the models with no scheme all use a "default" grey texture, so that shouldn't be a reason.
