Norton AFB
Norton AFB
I was inspired to start ground work for Norton AFB to support the retro C-141 repaints and flighplans recently uploaded by Dan Reeves & Matt Soden.
I used historical imagery in Google Earth to count and measure the fuel/oil stains for the most accurate orientation of parking spots.
The ADE file is not ready for upload yet.
I am open to any advice or collaboration i.e. tips on creating drive-thru parking.

Re: Norton AFB
This looks fantastic!
I am glad this inspired to start the ground work for Norton AFB.
I've always said to Dan when I write flight plans that when there is no scenery for certain bases it's a tad disheartening as you want to see them flying about doing what you've written them to do.
Look forward to seeing the finished product!

Re: Norton AFB
Nice project. I will admit that I had never heard of it so I looked it up.
It is quite a few years ago that I did drive through parking but I seem to remember that I started with the departure routes first as theses would only go to the ends of the runway(s). When i was sure that they worked I would then add the arrival routes and these would only be available from exit points on the runway.
Of course there are bound to be places that it is not feasible to do this, i.e. places with no additional exit points, but keep it simple until you can't.

Re: Norton AFB
Just went and had a look on Google Earth, and found one of my A340-600s being broken up there. That's spoiled my day!

Re: Norton AFB
I bet that did Tim. How many hours did you fly it for?

Re: Norton AFB
I think have about 12,000 on various Airbus, fairly evenly split between the A340-300, A340-600 and A330-300 with a few (maybe 1000) on the A330-200. I really must get around to putting them all in the same place so I can add them up! The -600 arrived at Virgin just as I moved from the 747, so I flew it throughout its time there. I had hoped to be the captain for its last revenue flight, but Covid took that away as they, and I, were all summarily retired!
Re: Norton AFB
I've created a new voicemod so KSBD becomes "Norton"
Also connected and test a few parking spots.

Re: Norton AFB
Is this scenery compatible with FSX. if so, which files need to be added to the addon scenery?
Thanks in advance, Regards Paul Day.
