JYAI Grob Prefect T1's

Post by John Young »

In between Tornado conversion and testing for MSFS, I have filled my time with something quite simple - the Grob Prefect T1 in use by the RAF for basic training. The aircraft operate from RAF Barkston Heath and route in the flight plan to Cranwell, Waddington and Coningsby for 3 TNG's before returning to Barkston. Some aircraft also perform circuits of Barkston periodically.

23 Prefects are in use under the UK Military Flying Training System Fixed Wing (UKMFTS) Aircraft Service Provision Contract, which is fulfilled by Affinity Training Services Ltd. 12 aircraft are provided in the package, with a mix of two or single pilot options.

Barkston Heath scenery from Keith Steadman and Stephen Legg is available from flightsim com. The FSX version will also work in both versions of P3D with a small tweak that I have provided. These are the aircraft:

The two Prefects operated by QuinetiQ (Empire Test Pilot's School) at Boscombe Down are also included with their special tail artwork:

The package is for FSX and P3D. The manual is written and I just need to assemble the zips and upload.

Looks really good John.

I was quietly wishing to myself that you would tackle the Prefect but you always are so busy I didn't want to ask

Thanks for being psychic :-)

These look fun, I don't see any major external differences for the other countries using them (specifically US Army). The Zlin 242L was fun, would have preferred the Grob 120TP.

Nice little aeroplane, and it looks great in the pictures John. That solid canopy top would have annoyed the hell out of me though!

I have just sent the package for inclusion in the Download Hangar. Please allow time for it to be checked and made available.

Also uploaded at the same time is a paint kit for the aircraft which is also suitable for painting the G 120TP (give or take an aerial or two), if users wish.

@John Young

When the paintkit is for ALL sim versions, does it include the FS9?
I am asking because the other file is for FSX and P3D only.

That would be because the model is for FSX/P3D only.
You were told that this would be happening but it seems that you still have not fully grasped this.

Asdro you forgot that John said he will not produce FS9 model anymore. So now All versions is for his produced models !!!

No not quite. The paint kit contains a .psd file that will serve any model that uses the mapping for the aircraft that I designed. That's primarily for the FSX/P3D models in the upload, but potentially also for an MSFS model should I later choose to convert one. It would even serve an FS9 model should anyone want to attempt to make a conversion - if that's possible and for their own use of course.
