...thanks chaps.

@ Manfred my friend, I hope you are well !

We are making sure that the JYAI Aircraft converted from the FSX/P3D model format to the MSFS ( glTF ) model format, come with all of the " Bells and Whistles " as so to speak.

Best Regards,

Pete.

It looks great Pete. But until Asobo sort out the AI Engine I will be staying with my P3Dv4. Perhaps in the new year I can splash out on a new PC & sim.

...well despite the ongoing issues related to AI and (MSFS) SU11, over this weekend I have at least seen some AI activity and have been able to continue development with those lovely birds of prey !

...in the shot below, you will notice that we are able to deploy the afterburner at will, for the required go around.
This is due to the Afterburner being created as an MSFS visual special effect and not the legacy type of effect used previously in FSX or P3d.
The effect uses xml coding to turn on the Engine Afterburning, relative to the amount of engine power/throttle setting applied.
It's really cool to watch the JYAI F-15's carry out touch 'n' goes with this feature having been added, it looks awesome in bad weather or at night.

Lovely screen shots again Pete. The landing light is the best I've seen, particularly with that upward arc in your fifth screen shot.

I really hope Asobo correct the problems with AI that SU11 caused and that we can get this and the Selfridge package out soon.

These shots really show how far this has all come along and its really quite incredible...the effects look awesome.
Have you been able to tweak landing gear retraction at lower altitudes or is this still stuck like fsx/p3d days

The landing gear uses very much the same gear retraction parameters as in previous sims Trev. It is possible though to apply xml code to make a custom sequence to get the gear up at a given altitude or speed. It works fine in FS9, but in FSX and P3D the aircraft spawns on the parking spot with the gear up and then immediately lowers it. OK if you close your eyes for a few seconds, but it's not really acceptable.

I haven't tried that in MSFS yet, but it could be possible if and when Asobo fix the AI engine.

....and to think Manfred, we barely touched the surface with the full extent of what could be achieved with the MSFS PBR options available to us.

In short, there is the scope to further enhance what has already been demonstrated with the Texturing of John's superb AI models, its all down to the amount of time one wants to spend manipulating the PBR materials etc.

A significant gain at no real cost was increasing the texture sheet size from 1024x1024 to 2048x2048. If you remember I worked with Hi Res 2048x2048 texture sheets on the FS9 Gutersloh ground Textures and the difference was phenomenal.

The real shame in all of this, is that we haven't been able to demonstrate ( by a release ) to the wider public, what we have been able to see for ourselves ( John, Steve " Firebird " and myself ).
Whilst the reasons for this have been explained elsewhere on this site, a contributing factor has also been sadly, the lack of interest here for MSFS. Having spent nearly 2 yrs learning the Conversion techniques to get John's Aircraft into MSFS and 1 year teaching the Master ( John ) himself, all of what I have learnt, you can see why I am reluctant just to throw it all in despite the level of support.

Whilst I continue to push ahead with development despite all of the current issue's affecting the AI Aircraft inside of MSFS, I am still blown away on occasion by what I am seeing and have to pinch myself to remind me that those Aircraft really are AI !!

Very Best Regards,

Pete.

Pete,
I think there's quite a bit of interest in MSFS within the users here, sadly Asobos lack of fixing the AI has probable made these same users feel it may come in time and leave the experts to it.
I still watch the selfridge A-10s and 135's do what they can and enjoy seeing them active even in their limited form.

Ian's EGUL, as nice as it is...even with static scenery present, is a ghost town and really hope one day the F15's and F35's can grace the skies. I reinstalled P3D but quickly went back to MSFS as the sim just offers too much scenic goodness. Civil AI delt with via justflight and fsltl certainly is impressive...i wonder whether a military injection could be feasible using one of the ads-b radar providers? much the same way fsltl piggyback off fr24 data.
Hoping Ian can update his scenery with some moving US vehicles around the perimeter roads while we await some sort of military AI.

Never give up the hope

Maybe the issue is Microsoft's absurd aversion for weapons or any military appearance. Spotlight on A-10s? Moving military AI? There is a coherence, clear...

Trev

Hi Trev,

Thanks for posting.

The situation with Lakenheath from our perspective is surrounded by disappointment. John and I readied the converted MSFS F15's and F35's models ( BTW, the F-35s have the most extensive PBR development time spent on them to date ) and then a couple of things happened.
A change of direction by one of our development team who was responsible for the F-15E's and F-35A's Traffic ( flight plans ) creation and also Asobo breaking the MSFS AI Traffic Offline system. Added to this, we also lost Ian's support as he has now gone into payware as you know.
All of this obviously brought our very much anticipated MAIW MSFS Lakenheath package crashing to its knee's.

So where does this leave us ?

Well, what I have managed to do is get our MAIW custom traffic working again and how this has been achieved is well documented in other recent posts.
This means we can potentially continue to use Traffic Packages which were originally from FSX or P3D that are already available to us in the MAIW Hangar. The same goes for Scenery Packages, although a little bit of adaption might be required.
These are thought of as interim solutions only.

As for Ian's Payware Scenery of Lakenheath for MSFS and what his plans are for it, I don't know. Hypothetically, We have got the F-15E's and F-35A's models ready to populate such a scenery, the F-15E's are all painted, some of the F-35A's are painted, but a few more would be required to be done by now. We have the AIG Traffic Controller capable of injecting the F-15E's and F-35A's into the Scenery.
What we don't have, is up to date flight plans ( a Traffic .bgl ) for the F-15E's and F-35A's currently based at Lakenheath, which would be required to support this Scenery. We would need a specialist Traffic developer to volunteer to create such Flight Plans ???

There are other considerations, Ian would be required to do another version of his Lakenheath Scenery, without the Static models which I believe populate the scenery currently. He would also have to implement the correct AI Parking for the Current Squadrons of the F-15E's and F-35A's Aircraft.
Also, as far as I am aware however, MAIW has never supported a Payware development.
So you can already see that there would be lots of issues that would be needed to be overcome, to achieve this.

In answering this specific question directly -

" I wonder whether a military injection could be feasible using one of the ads-b radar providers? much the same way fsltl piggyback
off fr24 data "

I am no AI Traffic expert, but I think this is something for the future may be. You have to remember that what you are suggesting would be " Live Traffic ", so any " Retro " Scenery/ Traffic Package would not be able to be handled in this way.

Hope this helps give some perspective on this,

Best regards,

Pete.

...A couple more videos then -

These are JYAI F-15E's Ai Traffic Aircraft, injected using the AIG Traffic Controller, but under Native control by the MSFS AI Traffic Engine.

( Please don't be too critical, I am new to this kind of Stuff LOL !! )

That go-around in the first video is certainly cool Pete. I was passing by Lakenheath a couple of weeks ago and was watching something similar for real.
