Just a note to round off this topic. I uploaded the Harrier GR3/T4 and Sea Harrier packages to flightsim.com this afternoon. The files are:

JYAI_RAF_Harriers_FS9_1.zip
JYAI_RAF_Harriers_FSX_1.zip
JYAI_Sea_Harriers_FS9_1.zip

Just installed the Harriers and also Manfreds Gutersloh scenery. Together they really set the standard for scenery and AI. Thanks John for another fantastic package. Thanks also to Manfred for his truly spectacular scenery.

Haven't had time to look at the Sea Harriers yet, but I suspect that Yeovilton will become very busy very soon.

The Harriers are fantastic!
However Traffic Toolbox doesn't seem to understand that your Harriers do take off verticaly.
It follows an ëmpty sky after take off.
Does somebody experiences the same? (I'm using FS9)

To be fair, it's jumps quite a bit more than most other models with that technique, that we've seen so far

It's a very fine balance between the vertical lift in the animation and the move forward by the FDE (see the manual). If I allocate more time to smooth out the lift by making it take longer, the forward acceleration destroys the near vertical nature. I must have spent 20 hours experimenting. It's not like a Chinook that moves forward during the lift. Ideally the Harrier should pause at the top of the lift before the tilt forward, but it's not possible. It's the best I could do I'm afraid given the limitations in the technique. You don't have to use it though - there are STOVL and conventional take-off models included in the zip as well.

Hello all,
I have been recieving a weird message in the UK whenever I fly there after installing John Young's FS9 harriers. The error states

"Flight simulator was unable to load the following software. You can continue using Flight Simulator, but this software or aircraft will be disabled."
Then it lists the location of every harrier scheduled to fly at the time I am flying, and I have to hit ok. Its so annoying, it happens as you travel throughout the UK where the harriers are supposed to fly. At first I assumed I somehow installed the FSX version into FS2004, which is a logical thought, so I deleted them and reinstalled the Fs9 models and no joy. Still have this stupid error popping up in the UK. Anyone else running into this issue?

Thanks
D :smt006

I must say it's not one I've encountered. I had 2 in at Marham today and they behaved as expected. No error messages came up.

Have you installed any scenery packages since you've installed them?

That's strange Dan. What flight plans are you using that generates traffic "in the areas that the Harriers are supposed to fly"? What locations are listed in the error report?

The only flight plans in the packs that I uploaded are the local circuit ones for users to test the aircraft up at Crail, near Leuchars in Scotland? They just fly one circuit and land. If you have my Crail test flight plans installed and you remove them, does the problem go away?

There have been 1400 FS9 downloads so far, but no one else has reported this problem, so I'm a bit in the dark with this one.

Well I can guarantee you it is happening, no matter how many downloads there are. I will try to delete the Crail scenery and remove the flightplans and hopusefully that will solve the issue. I don't have it in any other flight plans. I am just reporting it because its annoying and I was wondering if anyone else has this issue.

No problems in my FS9 set up either. Harriers run smoothly with Johns Crail flight plans and Darlys Wittering plans Never encountered anything like Dan is experiencing.

Dan,
You say it lists the location from which every Harrier flys from, not the Harriers themselves. It sounds like you have FSX scenery installed, which FS9 won't like. an you confirm that you only have FS9 scenery and afcads installed?
