Can you do just the helos as a separate package? Other features really screw with my "SWS Haze Gray" fleet.

I mentioned the other day that I'd been working on some quick-and-dirty minor airfields in Texas as a bit of light relief from Finningley. All are for P3Dv4. Some results:

KNQI Kingsville NAS. There's a full set of flightplans in Matrix, but in P3D you're stuck with the stock airfield. This is a modification of the stock layout, not hugely accurate but it allows the Goshawks to do their stuff.

Image

Image

KNOG Orange Grove NALF. Again, a mod of the stock airport. Approaches have been added.

Image

KNGT Goliad NOLF. In the sim as 7T3, this airfield was recently reactivated by the USN. It was originally Chase Auxiliary Field Berclair. This is a complete replacement for the stock airfield, with the stock version neutralised. All approaches modelled.

Image

KNWL Waldron Field NOLF. Just up the road from Corpus Christi, this is just a lightly-modified stock airfield.

Image

KNGW Cabaniss Field NOLF. This one is in between Waldron and Corpus Christ Intl. This is another complete replacement.

Image

Image

SEQ Randolph Aux. This is where it started after I screwed up trying to get the Orbx Randolph from v5 into v4.5 and got interested in the area. It's a major reconstruction of the stock airport, though there really isn't a lot to it.

Image

Lastly, KNIR Chase Field NAS. Closed in 1993, this isn't in the sim, so it's a new field and a work in progress. I'm not going to do it in great detail, but as it's still complete in reality and a significant feature in teh area, I think it's worth adding. Somewhere for those T-34s to go!

Image

Image

Oh, I've also had a play with Kelly Field (for which there is an FS9 version on MAIW, though I've done it by modifying the stock field) and Laguna AAF (I've converted the MAIW FS9 version with its remote sites, and i'm adding approaches) There's some testing to do to confirm they're ok, then I'll offer them for upload and inclusion in the library if they are acceptable.

Looks great so far, did you take a look at the FS9 John Stinstrom based MAIW NAS Kingsville scenery for conversion to FSX/P3D?

Chris, I can’t remember exactly why I started my own AFCAD for it. I think I was jumping from base to base in the area, noticed that a T-45 was at the fuelling point at the stock Kingsville and then discovered that there were flight plans in Matrix for the whole Kingsville fleet. So I added parking to the stock airfield some time ago, then tidied it up a bit this week.

I should have thought about looking for a JS version! I have converted his Cecil to P3Dv4 and it looks excellent, and I think I may have looked at a couple of others of his in the past. Trouble is, once I get my head down on something it’s difficult to drop it and take another course. But I’ll give it a go and see how I get on.

Try them. They should work ok, apart from dynamic lighting.

The dynamic lights (stadium lights on two of the fields) are fx files, so simply don't install them in FSX. It should be straightforward to add lightwashes in ADE if the lighting is important to you, but night operations aren't likely to be a big feature of these airfields. Everything else is standard textures and MAIW library stuff, so I see no reason why it shouldn't all work seamlessly. However, if you find any problems bring them up here and, if I get a moment, I might recompile them for FSX. An FS9 conversion (for those interested) would need a bit more work, so I won't be doing that.

Biggs AAF. I created a separate afcad (1BIF) for helicopter traffic. I did not code the spots as there are no repaints available. Apaches use the western and center portion of the ramp. Chinooks park on the east side.

Looks good Jamie, sadly I was last working out of there in 2017, but the large hangar to the west of the helo spots is for the 204th MI BN. A good place to put the JYAI RC-12s and DWAI Dash-7 (which should be gone by now, replaced by DHC 8 ).

Thx. You know if there are FP's and repaints for the Dash-7 or 8's?

I'll take a look at my old FSX folder for the FPs. I had some basic repaints for the DWAI -7 (mostly white exteriors, no mil markings). The TFS -8 never got painted to my knowledge, these came from Dynamic Aviation and sported AFSOC dark gray camo.

Hi all. Based on my setup, I excrated all traffic files that send helicopters to Biggs AAF (KBIF).
Change the FP in order to send them to 1BIF.
FP are:
Traffic_1-227th.bgl
Traffic_2-227th.bgl
Traffic_305RQS.bgl
Traffic_55RQS.bgl
Traffic_CBP Tucson.bgl
Traffic_MAIW_21st Cavalry Brigade.bgl
Traffic_Papago AHP.bgl
Traffic_Silverbell AHP.bgl
Don't ask me from which package these come...
