Just get the confirmation by another user that AVG has whitelisted the installer. Can you confirm (enforce a detection pattern update before you try).
Cheers,
Martin

Martin, I just tried the update, wonderful that you found what was causing it. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I've been quite busy lately at work. Thanks for a great tool!!!

Thanks for a great tool!

I like to use the aircraft viewer in a separate window, but now there is a little snag: If I want to view another plane, the first plane is still stuck in the viewer, even if I shut it down and re-open it. I need to restart AIAE to view another plane.

What happens if you just select another aircraft or [fltsim.x] entry on the main grid?

I might be a mo*on, but I can't get this to work :(

It chrashes everytime on startup.

General remark:
Index and length must refer to a location within the string.
Parameter name: length
Source is "mscorlib".

Get this with 3.1.3 and 3.1.9. Running as admin, win 7 x64 english edition. Tried installing both in default location as well as custom location :)

Which FS versions do you have installed?

This error is when a substring is demanded from a string that is too short in character length. As Martin may use that call in more than one location he will need to full error that is generated to work out where the problem occurs.

Hi Stingray.

Does this happen immediately when you start the application? Did it ever work for any aircraft?

Can you see which folder is trying to be loaded and can therefore tell which aircraft folder AIAE.Net is trying to analyze?

There are a few people suffering from this, but I have not found out where I messed up the code. I don't see the error with the many folders I have to test.

Your input can be very helpful and I would like to ferret this one out together with you.
Cheers,
Martin

It happens immediatly as I start. The loading icon spins up, then the crash window comes up.

This is in the "Stack Trace"
at System.String.Substring(Int32 startIndex, Int32 length)
at AI_Aircraft_Editor.frm_AIAE.Initialize() in E:\Eigene Dateien\Martin\VB\AI-Editor\AI-Aircraft Editor.3.1.3\frm_AIAE.vb:line 1784
at AI_Aircraft_Editor.frm_AIAE.Form1_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) in E:\Eigene Dateien\Martin\VB\AI-Editor\AI-Aircraft Editor.3.1.3\frm_AIAE.vb:line 1351
at System.EventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, EventArgs e)
at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnLoad(EventArgs e)
at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnCreateControl()
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl()
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmShowWindow(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WmShowWindow(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)
Might seem as it is trying to load something on your computer?

That answer was key! What version of P3D have you installed?

I think I have it fixed, Stingray. Do you have P3Dv2 (not 2.5) by any chance?
Can you download this executable, overwrite the one installed with it and tell me if the error is gone, please?
Cheers,
Martin

Did you had P3Dv2 once installed? And is the error fixed with the new exe?
