The aircraft will show up in the sim with an empty "atc_airline=" entry. I test all my aircraft initially with that line empty and add the call sign later.

The key thing is that the aircraft name in the aircraft.cfg file must match the name in the aircraft.txt file component of the traffic file.

It might also be useful to check the model specified in the aircraft.cfg to make sure it's present in the root folder of the aircraft. The spelling must match completely.

Brandon, have you checked with Randy which sim version you are painting for and do you have the serial numbers for all the squadron aircraft at the time? Do you also have the font for USAF lettering and numbering? I can give you that if you need it.

John

Jolly good, but Randy asked for a repaint of my model which is consistent with your topic title.

Are you going to show us the result?

I tried repainting the F-15C JYAI but the repaint wouldn't show, so I found the next best thing.Result will be ready by Wednesday next week.

Why is it you can display a texture on an NBAI F-15C and not on a JYAI F-15C? The process to get either to display is the same, so long as each is in the right format for the sim version you are testing with. If you don't find out why it didn't display, you won't move on.

Send me the JYAI texture and I'll test it for you.

Its not a finished texture, because if I do it all in one go it goes textureless but I will send it to you

Completion of the F-15 is near. When its done I will move onto the BAF SM.260s with special markings

Send me the JYAI F-15 texture you had a problem with Brandon, as you said you would (you have my e-mail address) and I'll check it over for you. Better to do that and go ploughing on into other projects with something amiss.

Are you going to provide the whole F-15 squadron? One aircraft on it's own is not very useful.

Dear Randy,
Your F-15 is done. Later I will add the textures to the forum so you can have in in your sim. Tested in FSX, should work in FS2004 as well. NBAI F-15C, painted in the colours of the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron based at NAS Keflavik, Iceland during the 80's. I couldn't find the insignia on the air intakes. All credits of the model and paintkit go to Nick.

Hi Brandon,
Your missing insignia on the port side was the 57th FIS squadron emblem. The starboard side was different but from memory I can't remember is it was the ACC emblem or not. I can have a look later for you and see. I also think some of not all carried the usaf roundel in front of the air intake. Age again may be a factor here but I don't remember them being blue.

Here is the texture. Enjoy.

PS send screenshots of it in your FS World

Brandon, you are being mislead by the blue colour cast of a wet-film photo of the time. If you search the net for other photos of 80-0033 and other aircraft of the 57th FIS at the time, they appear to be in the standard ghost grey scheme. Here's an example:

https://www.airfighters.com/photo/12058 ... e/80-0033/

I would also add some panel lines to help give the model some interest.

The font is wrong too. I did offer you the correct one but you didn't take it up.

I guess you are still at the start of the learning curve - you could take a look at the already existing 57th FIS NBAI F-15 repaints by Mark Walsh. If you study his excellent work you get a good idea how to paint the F-15's. Here is the link to the keflavik_traffic_247746_315609.zip file at AVSIM:

Here's an interesting Bird to paint. This is a F-8K reg# N19TB that was owned by Thunderbird Aviation, based out of Deer Valley Airport in Arizona. Thunderbird had many different warbirds, including T-33s, A-7s, and even a few A-3s. This aircraft from what I managed to find was that it was used to test military avionics. There is even an old newspaper article about it in the Deer Valley Airport Terminal. The current whereabouts of the jet are mostly unknown. From what I found, the jet was bought by Paul Allen and was stored. It would be interesting to see a repaint of a rare warbird if you like to do it. If not, that's completely alright.
