Interesting i thoight there is only one on order, 11 delivered + 1 order.

Next year may be South Korea and New Zealand will get their first Poseidons, too.
But i wonder that US already got 98.
There are only 30 examples to be delivered to them.

Potentital new customers could be Malaysia, Saudi Arabia amd Turkey.

Anyhow, thank you

I still try to install the Poseidons. Currently I have finished the RAF, RAAF and Indian Navy Poseidons.

But now I have noticed a few strange things, especially with the flightplans.

If I look into the Indian Navy FP, the speed is set at 125 knots in the aircraft.txt file.
In the RAAF aircraft.txt, the Poseidons and the Orions have 500 knots.
Does it make sence?

Also I have noticed that the flightplans for the Indian Poseidons have problems with the Dep/Arr times.
That causes the problem that aircrafts are not at certain airports as they have to be according to the FP.

Before I write something wrong I would like you to check these entries.

Here is an example.

(Note: I have changed the flightnumbers. For IN320 I use 320, for IN321 I use 321.
Before that, all flightnumbers were 0000. The result was that the atc called the flightnumber as 0, even the atc_flightnumber was 320 in the aircraft.cfg [for IN320 registration] )

Problems which I found in th Indian NAvy flightplan:

Poseidons:

This problem I have with all regs in the Indian Navy flightplan.
By the way, VOGO seems to be the new ICAO code for Goa Dabolim Airport (INS Hansa).
I have changed that in the airport.txt file.

Problems which I found in th RAAF flightplan:

Asdro, the flight plans for the Poseidon's were contributed by a number of people and some used flight plans from the Orion's in the original MAIW packages and all have been in use for nearly 4 years now. I am not proposing to break off what I am currently doing to amend them, particularly as much of what you are reporting, like incorrect flight numbers, will not affect the flights. As you seems to be familiar with how they work, you might want to make the changes yourself, update them to current real world identities and then post them here for anyone else to use who might be interested.

Asdro,
For reference, the speed in the aircraft files should always be set to the same as the 'cruise_speed' in the aircraft.cfg file. This way the aircraft legs are not impossible to meet.
I personally have amended plans for helos that had 450 kts set. Slightly unlikely I feel.

I will install the US Navy Poseidons first and will see how to deal with the FPs.

For me it is not a problem to change flightnumbers or regs in the FP.

But the Indian Navy FP should be done from scratch again in my opinion.

I dont know if i can do that.
Regarding RAAF and RAF i didnt find much problems.

Now i have to check also the FPs of the USN.

It is very time consuming to find the problems.
I also had same issues with DEP/ARR times in FP in the KC-135 for Beale AB, recently.

I will get to you back and report if i notice other things.

Thanks.

If you think it's time consuming testing flight plans asdro, try creating them in the first place, plus the 7 models to go with them, plus 67 paints, plus the scenery, all for 3 different sim versions. You don't need to come back to me. As I said, the flight plans are nearly 4 years old. If you want to create more recent ones and want to share them, please do, but I won't be spending time on them, especially for FS9.

I am not your personal designer, able or willing to respond to your countless demands for FS9 stuff. If anything it's driving me further and further away from that sim version.

Amen on the "time consumption" point John. As much as I love tinkering with my FS9 setup and the few major ADE projects I have started and not finished due to real life constraints, make gentlemen such as yourself "invaluable" to the hobby. I always have and always will appreciate your creations and consistently look forward to your posts regardless of sim.

asdro...From an "Old Man" who has been involved in MSFS since version 1, there is a tremendous amount of enjoyment to be found in just "tinkering" with various setups and aspects of the sim. If you are as enthusiastic as you claim you will spend many hours, without complaint, doing so and enjoy almost every one of them. I strongly recommend you learn the definition and art of "tact"...it will serve you well not only here but for the rest of your life as well...

Sincerely,

Mat

asdro, I know your heart is in the right place but you got to think about your requests and demands. your head is in 1st gear but your mouth is in 4th.you now have 382 posts and not a single file uploaded, as you know how to fix and find faults
in all the flight plans mentioned above, why don't you fix them, compile them for the 3 sim versions and surprise every member here by releasing them.
I look forward to seeing your hard work..............(or correcting other members hard work)

Absolutely, Gary. It is easy to overlook if you amend plans from somebody else to fit a purpose.
