P3Dv4 (0xc000007b) error

Post by jimrodger »

Tried starting up P3Dv4 and straight away get a (0xc000007b)error message. I've uninstalled/reinstalled a few times to no success. I've uninstalled / reinstalled the DirectX files , visual c++ stuff and net framework as well to no joy.

Any one got any ideas please.

Jim

You don't mention which version of OS you are using so I will assume the latest version of 10.

Try two commands that will see if you have any system corruption. Do both in Command with Admin.
Firstly :-
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

This uses windows update to ensure that you have the componenets to fix corruptions.
Once that is finished :-
sfc /scannow

This will take some time and will come back with a response that there are no errors, errors found and fixed, errors found and not fixed or couldn't run the procedure.

This will ensure that it is not a system issue.

Well the good news there is that you know that the OS is not the problem.

So the next two things to try are firstly give P3D admin rights and then secondly delete the control files that are mentioned here :- https://prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=125984

In case it is a corrupt control file, it might be worth renaming them all by adding '_old' to them this way once you are back up it will be easier to reset everything as it was.

Is this your initial install Jim, or have you been running it for a while?

I did find this which is related to P3Dv4 crashes with that error. Trying installing the 32bit and 64 bit versions.

It's been running fine for a while now, tried that topic as well.

Run Virus/malware chkdsk...all OK
It's all SSD so no a defrag prob..

Don't know, looks like I'll just have to give P3D a miss

Thanks for your help
