Scenery Libraries

Post by ajs1964 »

Hi guys

I downloaded the JETMAXVOL1_SPLITS file with the US MIL Bases. The author lists some libraries that are required and states "from MAIW" however I can't find them despite searching :(
Atsugi Object Library.bgl
Beaufort Object Library.BGL
MCDMilitaryLibrary.bgl

I have the others listed in the help file.

Grateful for any help.

Cheers

The names are a big clue here.

The Atsugi lib is in the Atsugi pack and the Beaufort Lib is in the Beaufort Pack. Just search the Download Hangar and they are the oldest items returned.

The MCD Mil lib you will not find here. It is not one of ours and we do not have permission from Michael Carr to share it. All of our packs that use it point to either Avsim to download it.

Atsugi and Beaufort are both in the MAIW Scenery Library Pack (available here on this very website). In that pack is a whole load of stuff that helps populate any airfields in the MAIW Download Hangar. Separate packs for FS9 and FSX/P3D, plus the associated thumbnails to visualise each item in ADE.

Sorry, Tim. Those libs are not included in the Global Libs pack. The thumbnails for them may be included in the thumbnails pack though.

Ah, ok - I think I made the assumption that the MAIW Global Libraries in Matrix were the same as the ones available separately in the Download Hangar.

You know it didn't occur to me that they would be different but it does make sense.

It'll shortly be moot as Greg will remove Matrix from the Hangar, but the libraries as included in it are pretty comprehensive and extremely useful. Could we substitute this collection for the separate one in the Hangar? Obviously it's been converted to P3D compatibility, but as almost all the models started off as FS9 (or possibly earlier!), it should be straightforward for anyone to convert them to older sims if they need to.

There has been some questions raised about the scenery that is currently supplied by the Matrix.
We are having a think about the best way to have it available. It will be done if it is feasible.

That's good news, Steve. I've got it all squirrelled away for myself, but as I'm not particularly concerned about representing only what's in service right now, my live installation (of Matrix) contains basically everything I have that isn't payware. The purists would be appalled at the strange mix of aircraft that appear at some of my airfields, but one gives not a hoot!

I have a very appalling setup then, and as long as people keep producing stuff for retro aircraft I will be very happy to keep getting worse and worse.
