Moody A-10 Repaints

Post by Reggie »

Can someone direct me to some Moody A-10 repaints for P3D? I can’t seem to find any here or at the usual flightsim websites.
Thanks

Files uploaded now.

48 paints for 74th and 75th FS and another package with 71st RQS.

You will need moody_afb,zip from Avsim library for flightplans. Mark Heimer put a great deal of effort into this.
Seems a shame to replace his paints for the RWAI A-10's.

Out of curiosity does anyone know if the RWAI A-10 is going to be converted eventually?

Wasn’t it converted for Matrix, or for the Twin Bases package for FSX? I certainly have it running at Moody (my own AFD) in P3Dv5.

Not in the matrix... I will check twin bases package... I do not have it on my system and I kept the matrix current while it was actively being updated...

The RWAI A-10 has not been converted so far. If anybody has done all models, I am happy to prepare the conversion pack.

Ok. I’m off out for a while but I’ll dig out what I’ve got when I get back later. It could be that I ran them through MCX myself some years ago, but I’m not a ‘qualified’ AI aircraft converter so if that’s the case I don’t guarantee that they’ll have been done properly! But they do appear to work ok in v5.3.

To afford another his place in the sun. Not like anyone is going to know the difference anyway. No need for duplicates.

Yes, I did convert them some years ago to work with the Twin Base scenery before the JYAI A-10s were put out with the appropriate liveries. However, the conversion was a quick-and-dirty 'run it through MCX' affair, so cockpit transparencies aren't. The animations appear to be OK, however. I'm away for the weekend, so I'll have a look early next week to see if I can tidy that detail up.

Edit:

In view of John Tenn's Moody liveries being made available for the JYAI model, it would seem superfluous to duplicate that for the old Mark Heimer paints for P3D. However, I have done a conversion to the RWAI model which, with the addition of a replacement Alpha sheet (which I've had to add individually to each paint to get it to work - is there a way of incorporating it in the mdl file?) allows it to work in P3D with a transparent cockpit.

Screenshots from my very basic KVAD AFD for P3D. It's not an active project just now - I have too much else on - but I may do some more on it when I have time.

The .jpg version of the revised alpha sheet is attached. It can be incorporated into any of the RWAI A-10 paints using DXTBMP, which combined with a mdl conversion in MCX will allow the aircraft to work properly in P3Dv4. If converting to DDS, it needs to be flipped and reversed.

Tim, I'm a bit confused about your uploads.

Do you have permission from Rysiek to reupload a modified version of his A-10? There doesn't appear to be a readme in your uploads with copyright information, which means that I can't publish your uploads in their current state.

Or is the aim of your uploads to send the files to us for inclusion in an "official" MAIW conversion package?
