Thanks everyone for your kind comments.

I am so pleased to say that Ray Parker has galloped to my need and is hosting the Wessex (and Lynx) files while the MAIW Hangar is not operating as it should. With many thanks to Ray, he has set up a page for these (JYAI) downloads on his web site here - see top menu:

https://rayparkerrepaints.weebly.com/

Note that the Wessex Part 2 pack is split into two, to overcome upload limits.

John

Update: Ray's hosting has now been removed - see below for the link to the zip in the Download Hangar.

First shots of 18Sqn Wessex at RAF Gutersloh, early 80s. Those are really great! Thank you John.

Done by JY as part of his Gazelle package. It goes with Menno's scenery for Shawbury.

Many Thanks to Ray for hosting. All we need is an AI Whirlwind to complete the retro series. :)

Steve
The only AFCAD I can find in the Shawbury scenery in JYAI Gazelle package is EGOS_JYAI_Helicopter_Overlay_BLG, am I missing something?

Paul,
I don't think you are missing anything. It could be a case of me renaming something to be more obvious.
The file on my system is called 'EGO1_Shawbury_JYAI_Helicopter_Overlay.BGL'. It is too similar to be a coincidence.

I can't remember but it could be that I renamed it so that the title matches the game ICAO. Try loading your file into AFX/ADE and seeing what the ICAO is.

I do this sort of thing as a matter of course so that I can find files by using a simple search.

Manfred, I love the Gutersloh screen shots. I'm so glad I painted the 18 Sqn Wessex.

Paul, if you read the Wessex Pt1 manual, for Shawbury installation, it says:

- add “EGOS_JYAI_Helicopter_Overlay.bgl” from the Gazelle zip, to the same
scenery folder. The helicopter overlay uses the ICAO code EGO1 to force the Gazelle and Wessex
helicopters to the short, invisible, helicopter runway.

The file is in the zip, you don't need to search for anything.

Steve and John
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. When I looked UK scenery EG0I was listed, I just couldn't find it but thanks again for clarifying the situation.

So many downloads I hardly knew where to start. Decided to start with 22 Sqdn at Brian Clarke’s Chivenor. They look amazing. Perfect companions for Derek’s Hawk repaints. Next up the Queen’s Flight at Benson and 2 FTS at Shawbury. Thanks to all involved!

Hello everyone, one question here, is there any way or trick to convert FX models to fs9? Something like modifying the cfg. file to FS9. I know that the texture files are to be turned 180. I am still hooked to FS9 due to an traditional computer( je,je). I would really like to see them new models in my sim. Thanks for any advice and / suggestions.

OK, simply put you can't convert them back to FS9.
If MCX was made with the idea of converting backwards instead of forwards then you could. However, it is not something that I would ever see the programmer doing. The idea is to convert models forward.
If I remember correctly, the issue is that although MCX allows you to modify the built-in xml from the fs9 mdl into FSX standard xml it doesn't allow you to go the other way.

If it could be done people like JY would not have abandoned FS9 models.

I just typed a detailed reply and sent it only to find that Steve got in at the same time and my post was lost.

In short though, I have to concur. FSX models use a different system of animation and visibility coding that FS9 won't recognise. Even working in Gmax trying to strip that out and replacing it with FS9 code is a complete pain and not always successful. Going from FS9 to FSX is fine, but time consuming. FSX to FS9 is a no-no really.

Update: The Part 2 Wessex files have been available in the Download Hangar for a while now and the hosting on Ray's site has been removed. This is the link in the Hangar:

My thanks again to Ray for helping me out.
