Then again, maybe RPP_FPGen already has these capabilities, and its just my own cack-handedness.

Guys, there is one thing about flight planning that we should take into account. Its not easy to produce quality work. This tool is designed as an aide rather than a de-facto problem solver.

Now there is one possibility that may help and either somebody else uses this method or the manual suggests this, I am not sure which.

It maybe be that it will work better if you break your flightplans down into sections, i.e. one or two planes using a few bases and 4-6 using others etc and you join up the txt files produced at the end to get your complete needs.

Try that.

Thanks Steve,

That is exactly what works best for me :)

Just so we're singing from the same song sheet, my comments above are certainly not meant as a complaint. They're just feedback on where a sample user (me) might like to see some future development - if any is planned, that is.

As it is, the tool is good enough that I use it - so thanks to Rip!

I also see that there is much untapped potential within its cogs and wheels. Sadly, I haven't learnt the skills to take it on, so I'm reduced to being just a critic.

I've just figured how to get aircraft to appear, however whenever they are due to go they simply vanish into thin air. At first i thought it was an afcad issue but they look okay, i then tried a different model and i'm still having the same problem. Am i doing something monumentally stupid or is it just something i've missed?? :?

Are you talking about flightplans you've made using this tool or something different instead?

yes. it just applies to aircraft that are IFR, VFR aircraft all seem to work fine

OK. If I have this correct, the plans are done and the aircraft appear at the air base but when they are due to go they disappear, without moving, from their parking spaces.
Do you have VFR traffic from that base as well?

If so, and thats OK, then zip up the raw text files, and your spreadaheet workbook and send them to me and I will try to work out if i can find an error.
It may be that you will need to send two pm's, one with the plans and one with the workbook.

Does sound like unconnected parking spots. I've seen this happen with a 100% correct AFCAD at NAF El Centro KNJK, which is at -42 ft MSL. That seemed to be a problem.

Oh god i knew it would be something trivial like that. Thanks David and sorry Steve for wasting your time with something like that.

No problem. I will not do anything unless you confirm that you have checked the afcad and that there is no problem there.

Have noticed a small problem today with this very good tool. When you select to repeat a FP during generation, I have noticed that the Altitude is not repeated and is unique. Am I doing something wrong here or just found a new issue?

How much difference is there in height. It sounds to me that it would automatically alter the height so that you would not get multiple aircraft spawning in the same space and time.

I couldn't find it elsewhere, so I figure I'd ask here: How do I go about entering GMT Offsets that are 15/30/45 minutes off the hour? Or do I just ignore it and round up or down to the nearest hour?

I have just recently started using RPP_FPGen, after trying to find a random flight plan generator. It is a great and easy tool to use (especially if you know a lot about excel, and read the manual)! The only problem I'm having is that whether I use AIFP, or FPGen (compiled by TrafficTools), the traffic doesn't seem to show up in the game. Yes, I compiled everything into a .bgl, and made sure it's in my FS9Folder\Scenery\World\scenery folder, and made sure that folder is activated inside the game, but whenever I get to the airport at, or just before the time of arrival\departure, none of my personal ai traffic shows up! Now all the MAIW and other FS9 addon traffic .bgls show up just fine, but for whatever reason, mine don't. Any help?

I love this prog for creating quick FPs, however, one of the small niggles I had was the produced FLs eg 074, 278 etc....

I managed to fix this by editing the macro, and the FLs are now rounded to the nearest ten eg 070, 280 etc.

You need to edit the macro and replace the line that reads

glArrCruiseAlt(j) = tmpi1
with
glArrCruiseAlt(j) = 10 * Int((tmpi1 + 5) / 10)

(search for CruiseAlt is easiest way I found)

Hope this of use to some

Jim
