There is a package with 25 military airbase from Libya on avsimrus.com.

It's designed by Cianofranc

Hi,

First-time visitor here, so apologies if I've missed something obvious and/or should post this elsewhere.

I've recently started flying a transport plane around RAF bases in the UK (using FSX), so am wondering whether there's a list of military airfield scenery that's sorted by FS edition (FS2004, FSX), country, airport code -- and whether it's by a MAIW contributor (i.e. available here)...?

Hi and welcome,
A good place to start is here:

http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004.php

It's constantly updated and always a good source; as for MAIW packages, you won't go too far wrong at the Owls Nest:

Cheers

Thanks, Daryl:

Though it's well-tended, I'm not sure how comprehensive the FSX scenery listed at freewarescenery.com as regards RAF airfields.
Meanwhile, though, The Owl's Nest seems a good way to access the MAIW work -- is it kept as up-to-date as freewarescenery? (Looks like it is.)

Ian Elliot has released a reworked version of his Wittmundhafen (ETNT) scenery.
It's available at sim-outhouse.com

Ian Elliot has released some really nice new sceneries depicting two former East German air bases:

Preschen - since 1988 home of the East German Air Force and later Luftwaffe Mig-29s
Cottbus-Drewitz - home of a Mig-21 fighter wing

The package comes with AI traffic with one Mig-21 and Mig-29 repaint each.
The Preschen scenery also includes the nearby Forst highway strip.

Both airfields are not far away from Welzow AB, where Russian Su-24s were based.
This scenery was also done by Ian Elliot.

Thank you very much Ian.

Ah Stew

Think they are still in beta, and only club members can see them at the moment.
I am sure they will be released to general public soon.

Or pay $10 and join up, they have some nice stuff for club members.

Hadn't checked the beta section (see, sometimes I do spend money!!).

Of course, I made a real big mistake

I should have realised that these were FSX sceneries you were talking about  :P :P

I have said it before, and I will probably say it again, that I couldn't see a reason to update to it when it was supported by MS and yet to see a reason to update to a non-supported sim.

Don't know if you were "with us" in the days when we lived over at PAI Steve.

I recall getting into a very heated argument with several of the "in the know clique" who had been Beta Testers for FSX. I could not believe that throughout the process nobody had had the guts to tell MS/Aces that their product was a complete lemon.

Despite SP.1 and SP.2 or whatever, the telling fact is that Aces got crackerjacked by Bill Gates just over a year after they released it.

These scenries are very great. With the use of MAIW Library (soviet style shelters, truck etc).
Very Nice. Thanks to the author !

Stew,

They should have been "crackerjacked" for not creating FSX with a reasonable progression path from FS9 and more compatible with the typical users' hardware at the time of release. Some of the stuff they did seems to intentionally be different than FS9 to prevent the transfer of FS9 addons to FSX. :(

For what it's worth, I've taken the idea from this thread and expanded on it a bit: https://sites.google.com/site/fs9militarysceneries/

It's still VERY early days, as I've mostly just added the stuff I have in my Addon Scenery folder at the moment (bar the AFCADs sitting in the \scenery folder), so for the vast majority of countries there's just the list of airbases and not much else.

And yes, I do mean to expand on that Changi Air Base East story, it's just a matter of finding all the old screenshots I did while I considered asking some more scenery designers if they had a clue. Which I took before I read over at AIG that it was nigh impossible due to the way the scenery was put together, and how Imaginesim refuses to update the scenery unless a major flaw is found.

And yes, it's my intention to add link to the appropriate sites for download, but for now my OCD demands that everything looks more or less the same

And yes, some of those lists are a mess. Especially the US, where the USN/USMC seems to be missing several bases for some reason.
