Sorry to be a pain, but I could do with some clarification. Reading through this thread has given me the impression that I have messed up some flightplans:

The installation readme that opens when the setup is complete clearly states that step 1 is installation "in accordance with the on-screen prompts," step 2 is "Remove duplicate files" - for which there is a list.

First post in this thread states:
"You should remove the following files and folders before you install the new version."
beckerm13 points out that if this is the case, then there should be some warning as to the non-standard approach required before the installer activates.
BadPvtDan and MIKE JG point out that deleting the files listed in the readme after installation is actually fine. So far, so good.

But now, akav8r throws the cat amongst the pigeons with the following:
"In the readme file it says to remove

MAIW_AF2_MAI0.bgl

MAIW_AF2_MAI2.bgl

MAIW_AF2_MAI3.bgl

MAIW_AF2_MAI4.bgl

MAIW_AF2_MAI5.bgl

from the add-on scenery folder. However there are flightplans that use these waypoints."
To which Firebird responds:
"The instructions to remove the v1 package files are complete and are aimed at users that are not too sure what they are working with and should be carried out with impunity BEFORE upgrading.

However,if you have already installed the new package, it would not be ideal to remove them because as you so rightly spotted flightplans included in the package use them."
Now, referring back to the asurrances given by BadPvtDan and MIKE JG to beckerm13, we have ourselves a contradiction. BINGO!

To delete or not to delete, that is my question.

"To delete or not to delete, that is the question".........

OMG! A Shakespeare reference, that may be a first for a flight sim forum!

LOL, I like it though!

KFM (short for Kung Fu Man),

Sorry for the confusion, what I should have said in the initial post of this topic is "You should remove the following files and folders before you run the new version."

That is what I meant to say, that's what I get for writing that at 0100 in the morning.

Those five afcad files are for waypoints that are used in the flightplans. They are exactly the same from the first version. I you are deleting files BEFORE you run the installer, then you can delete those 5 files because the installer will put them in again. I

If you are deleting files AFTER you have run the installer, DO NOT delete those files as they are used in the package.

Sorry for the confusion.

The idea is for a user to run the installer, then read and follow the instructions from the Readme, which if they do, normally will cover everything needed.

In this case, I will admit, it is a bit confusing, you have my apologies.

We have problems with updates. Damnit Edith!

Updates are difficult at best. We just never know what the user has done to the original package on their end. If they've left it alone, not changed file locations or names, we can deal with that. If things are jumbled then all bets are off.

We just do the best we can and offer as much support as we can to make sure everyone gets the package up and running to their satisfaction.

Hey, thanks for clarifying that for me, especially as I was thinking my tone was a bit "snotty" after a re-read!

I understand that updates come with some extra "user variable" issues that you simply cannot plan for. However, they are very much appreciated, and I hope you think they are well worth the effort - as I do.

Nevertheless...
I feel it should be pointed out that the installer package's automatically launching .mht readme file is inconsistent: It presents a list of files to be removed after running the installer (the time at which that document gets read). Therefore it should not include those files which have just been installed. I won't be losing any sleep over it. But it did confuse a stupid person.

Anyone else observe this in the F-22 shelter area?
Image

Note what is sticking out of the rear doors/walls?

Even slightly shifting the parking spots "forward" in afcad didn't correct the effect.

It's not a big visual "oops" and I am definitely not complaining.
I am curious if it might be because of FSX-FS9 differences, possibly a result of curved-earth versus flat earth terrain modelling, or somesuch other thing.

Oops missed it.

Anyway, a pic was asked about and not subsequently provided. Now it has been.

We couldn't afford the bigger hangars........

We'll rectify that in V3.

Hi guys!

Excellent package! I love it! However ...

I have the same problem even with the MCDmil package installed. How can I solve this? The readme doesn't give any directions on it. Or did I miss anything?

I don't have any McDill objects on my end. Are you sure it's the Michael Carr objects and not John Stinstrom or MAIW objects instead, a screenshot would help.

by BadPvtDan
Yeah, I'm not sure any of Michael's objects are in there...if they are they are Easter eggs! How appropriate!

Do you mean the HMMWVs outside of the C17s?
