There's an easier way than that. Don't let the MATRIX installer set the installation path. Put it in a folder of its own, outside the P3D folders. It can even be on a different drive altogether. The MATRIX installer will also create the XML files mentioned by HHAS67, in the <<Documents\Prepar3D v4 ...
