Working on unofficial FSX versions of my packages

Post by Greg »

Just wanted to let you know that I'm working on some unofficial FSX versions of my previously released packages.

Why unofficial? Because MAIW doesn't have the resources to keep 2 production lines open. We keep focussing on FS9 and hope that the community will step up to share their modified files for FSX. My FSX versions will not go through the usual MAIW testing phase to check for compatibility issues and will therefore be "unofficial" and offered as is.

In the meantime, if you have made some modifications to make a MAIW package work in FSX (AFD / exclude / textures / anything) feel free to share them with other FSX users in the "MAIW FSX Package Conversion" forum. Don't worry about copyright, as long as the files are originally ours and you don't upload anywhere else than this forum.

Help your fellow FSX'ers and share your mods!

Great idea Greg and would be happy to help out. I have just about every US based package working, and starting to work on the UK now. Most of the known issues are covered in the thread, but I would say AFD's and a few textures have been the only real headaches for me.

Yeah for the most part the conversion is pretty straight forward. Everyone can convert flightplans for example if they have the right tool. But making excludes or new airfield backgrounds to get rid of trees is much more complicated if you're not familiar with it. So I thought why not combine our efforts and make this a community project? :smt001
