I'm in need of assistance...I've been wanting a good F-4C/D for FS2004 and haven't seen one. There's the Alphasim Phantom pack but I feel as though it's lacking options for the F-4D....so I've thought about creating my own. Well I got an excellent starting point but I am stuck and don't know where to go from here and am in over my head! I was wondering if someone might be interested in assisting...I have an excellent starting point.
The F-4 I have is low poly clean geometry, all gear parts and control surfaces seperate objects and could be easily animated with local pivot rotation, canopies are seperate as well, basic cockpits included, it is also scaled to realworld, all you need is UVW and Textures. It's in GMax format. I can get a screenshot sent to someone that has better understanding of GMax.
My goal of this project was to have a simple F-4C/D that looked appropriate but doesn't take a flight manual to get airborne. I was wanting all the usual stuff such as opening canopies, working control surfaces and lights. I was wanting various loadouts for the C & D. Please let me know if someone is willing to take a look, I don't want this to go to waste. I will never be able to do the Phantom justice & will probably just can this file.
Anyone willing to assist with a GMax Phantom....

Here's a screenshot of the Phantom in GMax....I'm still tinkering with it but I am so in over my head! Any assistance will be appreciate.

Lack of repsonses doesn't mean anyone is interested in helping, but I know speaking for us MAIW modellers we use FSDS, so we can't really be of any help to you.

Is it possible to convert GMax to FSDS? I have that program as well....Weescotty wrote:Lack of repsonses doesn't mean anyone is interested in helping, but I know speaking for us MAIW modellers we use FSDS, so we can't really be of any help to you.

I think it's called CVA converter.
Anyone willing to assist with a Phantom....Will convert to F
Ok, if that's what it takes for assistance I will convert it to FSDS....anyone willing to assist if I convert it to FSDS?
Re: Anyone willing to assist with a GMax Phantom....
I could give it a looks see.
Not sure how long it would take though, I am up to my eyes in the 'new' Eagles.
Conversion isn't as simple as you think.
We had GMax source files for a Mangusta, but couldn't get them ported across to the FSDS format using CVA.

I did read on FSdeveloper that in G-max you must make sure that you weld "all of the joints" together before converting the file, otherwise the model may explode. You may also need to cut your model up into smaller parts like just the wings, then the fuselage, the tail, etc. Any part that uses a lot of polys may need to be cut up. You can then rejoin them all when you get them into FSDS.
They say it works better if you export the G-max model into 3D-Max and then convert the file from there.
Do not try and bring Lods over into FSDS, waste of time.
This is only what I have read.
