Shadows

Can someone share how to do a shadow layer, that is, the lower part of the fuse and the underneath surfaces? Particularly interested in the shading technique on the fuse. I use PSP7 so something related to that would be helpful.

thanks, :)

Easiest way i do it is to use a similar but slightly darker color of the top coat of the bottom and drop the opacity inbetween 40-60% depending on how dark you want it. Thats the way i do it. Im sure others do it different ways.

I use black then change the layer to multiply then adjust the opacity, not sure if psp has the same feature as photoshop.

OK, that's cool. But what tool do you use and can you fade the shadow as you move up the fuse? Or rather, how do you do it?
thanks, :)

If you use the multiply layer, it changes a solid black texture into a faded looking texture. You could also use a gradient fill.

Thanks Mark, I think the gradient fill must be what I'm looking for but the last time I installed PSP, the help did not install so I'm going to have to look this up on the net.

Thanks again, :)
