Hi,
Not sure if there is a discussion in progress but I couldn't see one so here I go!
I have altered certain aircraft in certain AI packages (RAF Marham Retro for example) by substituting specific aircraft with others i.e. changed out the standard hemp victors for the different variants available from JY and now note that they are parked in smaller spots so that their wings overlap.
Can someone a lot smarter than me tell me is this down to the aircraft cfg of the flightplan and what can I do to stop this. Its not a big issue but I currently get 3 victors parked with overlapping wings and it looks bonkers! Any help or advice would be appreciated.

From what I understand, larger military aircraft are given flight dynamics of smaller AI aircraft because they are more agile than large airliners of similar size. The AI engine then makes them fly more like the real thing.
This is why they park on smaller spots.
In order to stop overlapping wings, move parking spots further apart or delete the one in between.
I am afraid that everything is a compromise.

OK FS9 doesn't use the wingspan from the cfg file. Only FSX uses this. FS9 uses the size that is built in to the mdl file when compiled.
The Victors have a wingspan of 110' just under 34m so it needs a radius of 17m. The mdl has a radius of 38m, which is a touch large, however it's immaterial for your issue.
My suggestion would be to alter the afcad so the slots you want them to park in are to 17m, you don't need to save it, and see if the slots overlap. If they do then you need to make changes there so they don't overlap.

Re: AI parking - wings overlap
Thanks for the advice but the issue I don't understand is that before I substituted the original Hemp Victors, they only parked at Marham in the correct spots as per the original flightplan. They now park in the spots originally allocated for the visiting aircraft and the Canberras in front of the North hangers . I haven't altered the parking spots in any way. I'm also using FSX.
I'm not competent in scenery design at this point, I have dabbled a bit without success in the past so don't fancy messing too much. I wouldn't want to mess with ACGs scenery and was hoping there was a simple reason foe the change following the substitution.
I can live with it as its not an issue that stop my flights and if I don't look I won't see! Many thanks for the previous advice though and maybe I need to learn rather then just guessing!

Sounds like when you swapped over the victors, you never copied over the original parking codes from the aircraft you replaced.

Yes I agree Mark. That's the first thing to test. My Victor and Canberra models should be exactly the same if only a repaint has been applied.

Thanks,
I'll look at that as I just substituted the aircraft using AIFP and didn't think I'd need to do anything else. Once again thanks for the advice.
