Flight plans

Post by DaveB at EGCC »

Any chance of a master flight plan list like the one for aircraft?.

All these paints on the net, with no plans to use them with.

Many thanks.

How about MAIW packages over there at Avsim.com?
These do contain flight plans.

There's also a tool called RPP_FPGen available, it can generate any plans you like (same download place).

I was thinking more of the types not in MAIW packs.
Like the new RF-4E's just out, or, all the MiG-21's out there!.

Thanks anyway.

If someone does the legwork and research, then we can put something like that together. But that's a ton of research to do.

You could also write your own. TTools is a freeware program that allows you to do it fairly easily. Just follow the tutorial which is a pretty quick, easy read.

Hey, if I can do it anybody can do it :D

RPP_FPGen does not require MAIW aircraft - any AI aircraft will do, and you will be able to generate the three text files required by TTools to create a traffic bgl file with the traffic you desire. It takes a little to learn to use, but if you follow the three examples supplied it is easy enough. You can do it, just give it a try.

Thanks for input, I've downloaded RPP fp gen, and now have a Question, how do I open it?? The xml file I mean!.

I have made crude flightplans with ttools before but find it very time consuming, and T&G's I find very confusing.

Many thanks.

Rip's fp_generator is Excel based - that is, the file extension is .xls not xml.

If you have MS Office Suite you should already have it, no?

OpenOffice, the best alternative for Microsoft Office and it's free. The latest version just released can also open the new Microsoft Office XML format.

You can open xls files with the spreadsheet program.

It really is a great product.

I think you might find that you won't be able to generate the flightplans with openoffice - something to do with the macros, there's more here

Working for a 11 time Microsoft gold partner this is probably not the best think to talk about while at work :P But have you tried the new version? Looking at the post it's from april this year, the new version OpenOffice is from october this year. It says it has more VBA support, since version 3.0.

And I went out and purchased a copy of Office 2007 just so I could use RPP_FPGen. Wish I had known about OO's new capability.

Keith, max is only saying that it might work, not that it does. At least you know it will work now.
