Coast Guard Question.

Post by Col7777 »

I did a search and found a thread asking if there are any plans for a US Coast Guard package, there was some speculation but the thread was fairly old, just wondering if it is still in the pipeline?

Yeah its still in the pipeline but it can take some time to see the light of day, which is why we avoid commenting on projects. People who are fans of a certain package get a little frustrated as time goes by.

We are looking for a Russian billionaire to pay us to do this full time, but as yet we have completely failed to find one. Never say never though :D .

Ah! I would have helped, you see I'm a billionaire but I'm not Russian. :)

Seriously though, do you accept donations via paypal I would be willing to donate from time to time?

As an org I don't think its anything we have ever talked about on a serious level.
I can't speak for the rest of the staff but I think that once you go down the situation where money becomes involved, even voluntary, I think the whole dynamic changes. The potential receivers of the cash start to get a bit strained if they don't get what they think they should do, for their effort, and the potential donors start wanting to have a bigger say in what is released and worked on. I think that it would be more divisive than helpful.

At the moment Dan has paid for the upkeep of the website, and other staff would contribute where needed. I think we are best free for the good of the community and we all remember that this includes ourselves. A sort of situation that I mentioned earlier would be wonderful but we know it won't happen in reality.

I think that I can speak for all those involved though that the fact that there are those willing to part with some hard earned for our efforts means a lot to us.

Of course if you get a PM from Dan asking for your bank details it means that I have no grasp on reality  .

OK Steve thanks for the quick reply, understood.

I downloaded an ai C-130 by Henry Tomkiewicz and a few textures by Grahan King for some coast guard traffic.
I started to write a few fictional plans where they fly fron base to base keeping them flying from the right base of course.
I may have a few flying out to waypoints then returning to simulate a patrol.

Do asearch on avsim for some USCG fp's. There's at least 2 different downloads - one for Kodiak Island, Alaka, and another involving a carrier off the coast of Oregon.

I'm not sure if there are others or not.

Cheers thanks, I did a search but sometimes if you type in the wrong thing it draws a blank then you see it under something else, I'll have another look.

My first flightplan was involving C-130 #1790 from KPIE-KOPF, both afcads had to be altered as there was not big enough parking for it, I only had the stock afcads.
Any way after the alteration it tookoff and landed OK.

Col7777,
Thats what I have working right now for the HTAI HC-130H/J's out of Alaska and stateside. Mainly just fictional flight plans.

HH-60J--can use the Hovercontrol Jayhawk-Non AI
HH-65--no true AI model out
HU-25--Haven't found a good F2000 yet, this jet is being replaced by the C-295

There are a few scenery packages out for Alaska.

Yo Victory103,

I made another (waypoint) airport of the coast of Frisco and had a C-130 doing a TNG then returning to base.
I got some help from a friend on here with a few things, that was a great start, I'm building it up slowly.

I want to add a few ships later so I can simulate a recon patrol, I did it here a while ago if you scroll down a bit:

http://www.calclassic.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 1203185833

I placed a ship using an invisible afcad then did a waypoint afcad very close to it so the recon aircraft did a few tng's then returned to base.
