They have a big polygon count as well, not very frame rate friendly for AI purposes.

As an example, their AI B-52 has 18,000 polygons at LOD1. That wouldn't be so bad except that it only has a total of 3 LODs meaning the computer has to render a whole bunch of polygons for the majority of the time the model is in view.

Even in their payware library, they aren't available anymore (i can remember that the AI C-17 model was released with their Dover AFB scenery which isn't available too)

MIKE JG, you mean that their "AI" models are not very good?!

I mean that their "AI" models are simply their regular models with a couple of LODs added. That doesn't make for a good AI model. You pretty much have to build one from scratch to make it low poly.

Their B-52 "AI" model has a texture folder alone that is 25 MB with 60 different files. For comparison, the PAI/RWAI C-17 AI model has just two texture file and is only 1.25 MB in size. When you have a ramp full of AI aircraft, that difference in just the texture folder size has a HUGE impact on how quickly the sim can load all of those textures.

Here is what that model looks like "naked", stripped of its solid surfaces. If you look closely, you can see that it's very detailed especially around the engine nacelles. For AI purposes, that's actually too much detail and again slows the sim down when it has to load that much detail into each model.

It's because Alphasim no longer sells scenery packages.
All the old packages have been updated by Team SDB and have FSX versions added and are available here.....
