What happens if avsim don't come back? On the Sim-Outhouse message that Crusader post it said "if we can come back at all".

I pesonally think they will be back. How long do you think they will be gone for? A month? 2 months?

Woah, guys.
Lets not get too carried away here. The avsim guys will still be piecing together what happened, how to prevent it happening again, and what can and needs to be done.
Speaking as somebody that has been involved in many IT crisis' it takes a little while to get all the info together before you can build a recovery plan. Lets give them a couple of days to sort through the wreckage. They will then be able to announce what is going to happen and a timeframe.

Taking into account what has happened, I wouldn't be too surprised if they get the server system set up and protected before they announce anything.

Same here. But it's a shame that I can't get the Elmendorf AFB V2 package. For a long time.

Give it some time, we'll see what happens. We have the capability to host our own files here. The problem is that I'm not sure we could continue to host all 130+ packages at once without having to shell out some more money to our site hosting service.

As others have suggested, use the down time to enjoy FS again. Go fly aircraft you haven't flown in a while or explore new freeware scenery. There's so much stuff out there, you'll never run out of new things to check out.

In the meantime the staff at MAIW will sit tight and see what happens. AVSIM has been good to us and we have always had a good relationship with them. No need to abandon them at the first sign of trouble. If the time comes to explore other options, we'll do that at that time.

Well said! As much as I want those new packages I am sure I will enjoy them later (have not much time now - so for me in person it is not too bad).

Fingers crossed avsim will be back online soon.

Mike, If it ever came down to it, to where MAIW had to host there own files I would be willing to donate to the cause.

Thanks Scott, we really don't want to go that route if we don't have to. From what I've read, AVSIM will rise again, bigger and better than before. I would encourage anyone and everyone to donate even just a little amount to helping rebuild AVSIM. It's the least we could do and would save us from having to explore those other options.

When I get a chance later tonight, I will post the direct link to donate to AVSIM on our front page.

Avsim Donation

I agree with Mike. Many of us use Avsim without any consideration of
donating.

I have always thought of AVSIM as a preimer site, and hope to see them back soon, But I just wanted to let the staff here at MAIW know what a great job you do I wish I could do more for the fine folk here (donations, input, or just a pat on the back). I have made a few friends here and wouldnt trade any of it for anything. A few of you gave me encouragement after my accident and helped me cheer up when I needed it and to all thank you.

We take pats on the back!

All we ask is that when we screw up a package, please don't complain too loudly, we'll eventually get it right. :D

Give yourselves a pat from me too!
