Lawson Army Airfield, Ft Benning, GA

Post by aerogator »

Hey guys,

If anyone is interested, I'd be glad to share an AFCAD of Lawson Field, KLSF. Ft Benning is the home of the Ranger School. The first phase is there and the guys fly back in from Eglin after the the third and last phase and jump in. (At Fryer Field, I think). There are also E8's doing TNG's from time to time (I assume from Robbins). There are usually a couple of '130's and '17's on the ramp, too, along with some of UH 60's and UH 1's.

I also used to have some flight plans for the jump circuit from Lawson to Fryer Field/Hite Bowl and an AFCAD to make the '130's fly the right cicuit.

If there is any interest, I'd need to spruce up the KLSF AFCAD and find the other stuff but I'd be glad to do it. Also Delta B, You may want to put Lawson in your flight plans for the E8's if you haven't already done it.

Jumping between phases is always a tricky proposition. The likelihood of getting hurt is very high and if you get hurt...they may make you recycle the phase, the course or send you home. No one wants to do that. The last jump in is a huge sigh of relief. Too bad it's not a Hollywood jump, though.

Useless bit of trivia.

Thanks for the tidbit on E-8s at Lawson--I might be able to squeeze a few TNGs in, but we're pretty late in the project, so no promises. . .
