Nicks helicopters
Nicks helicopters
i have noticed taht when nick helicopters take to the sky they lift off first and then head down the runway witch is good. alot more realistic than taking off like a normal aircaft.
then i noticed that the sea king takes off like a normal aircraft and not like nicks. is there any way i can change that so it takes off like nicks?
thanks

Dale,
I'm sorry to say that, as has been reported before on here, the helicopter lift off before take-off is not a mechanism of the .AIR file but is an animation hard wired into the construction of the model.
It is impossible to make this happen with an aircraft already on the market, unless you can get the source files as Steve says.
Sorry, you'll have to make do.
Nick

Rob,
Whilst Nick works in FSDS, he may very well be able to help with the procedure and xml that you could translate into GMAX. Why not drop him a pm, he would love it if the Sea Kings were able to use the same effect.

Thanks Steve,Firebird wrote:If anybody can do it, Mike, you can.
I just wanted everyone to realize that Nick's takeoff animations for both the NBAI Apache and the NBAI Chinook required somewhat novel AI FDE's. Now that I have done those, it shouldn't be too difficult to use them as a base for others in the future as long as the takeoff animations aren't too much different than Nick's.

I'll get onto Nick as soon as I get a spare minute! The xml coding should be able to be added to the model in GMax as is but I'll try it out.
I agree, Mike is a wizard with FDEs! If it works, I'll convert the Tiger, too!
By the way, the Blackhawk, Seahawk and Huey AI models I converted from Jordan Moore's source files (with permission!) are all FSDS, so should be able to be converted, too.

Rob,
If we are able to pull this off it should be a very exciting time ahead for AI choppers and will become the standard.
Very good news for all.
A true AI Hawk family with this takeoff will open the doors for so many.

I could be wrong here but I think that they were included in the ADF AI package, at least the Blackhawks and Seahawks were. I don't recall the Jayhawk being released anywhere.
Incidentally, Rob, is there a Pave Hawk by any chance?

You're right< Steve; they were in teh latest ADF AI package. I have all the source codes in FSDS, so if someone wants to make a Pavehawk from the S-70A-9 (they're quite similar), you're more than welcome.
The Jayhawk would be simple enough to convert from Jordan's original files for it. I can do it - but not for quite some time!

Rob, Good to here that there is a fellow GMAX user out there.
I got into the later versions of Flightsim for the helos, so you can imagine I want to build helos.
Mike, you will be hearing from me when I get to that stage of building my first aircraft, the Blackhawk.
Anybody out there that has H60 rotor head details let me know.
Looking at the photo data I have collected already, I see the input output ports for the engines vary.
United Technologies don't seem to be as forthcomming with the aircraft data as Eurocopter. When looking for data on the AS350 they had brochures that had detailed 3 views, measurements and all the little nicknaks to go with it.
I can see this will be a bear wrestling session.
For the FSDS users out there, what formats can you import? So for all of your out there that want different variants of this bird, and know more about it, I can ship you the meshes so you can do your own thing.

Nothing from Gmax that I know of. Hence why we all use FSDS.
