oh ye. i have seen that. no affence to who made it but its didn't look as good as MAIW aircraft.
MAIW aircraft are great. aswell with the amount off detail in the repaints, the aircraft itself!!
Firebird wrote:@Hank,
Which pack and which versions did they have?
Also do you know how AI it really was (poly count)?
Lighting package 2, and it contains a Mk 6 only.
About the poly count? I really don't have an idea, but the framerate is quite heavy once I get more than four in view.
the alphasim lightning is a great model. very detailed. i find when you get more than four the computer struggles to cope. do you find when it flys as an ai it shakes?
Well the shots shown were of the pure AI model of Alphasim Lightning package 2.
An advantage is you can you use all the repaints of the Lightning for the AI model aswell. Remains a fantastic a/c.
Pity it was that the T-bird AI model ment for package 3 was not included.
I agree that the model is progressing well and I will definitely be adding it to my retro installs. Binbrook will live again!
I have to say though on a real life tack, I appear to be very un-British in the sense that I never really liked the Lightning. Yep it was a wonderful to watch on its zoom climb, but it was a one shot machine and very short on endurance and its cockpit looked like it was thrown together by a bunch of kids playing with a meccano set (OK it was better than the Bucc, but still).
I liken it to the F-104A, almost pointless, as a warplane. I know pilots loved flying it, but you should see the log book of its pilots, 20-25 minute sorties were very common.

that is very true. but for me going from the runway to 35000ft in about 2mins is incredible. even aircraft nowadays cant even do that..
nope for me it will always be the best aircraft in the world. and one day am guna go to thunder city!!
on another note, do you know of a good binbrook scenery?
upon seeing the AI lightning that Weescotty has designed i decided to do abit of research about the aircraft at binbrook. i managed to find out the lightnings that were there before it closed down when it was fully opperational with all three squadrons there, i also found out aircraft reg, the aircraft tail id (i.e. AA, BA etc...), and also what paint job they had on them at that time. if the info is usefull to anyone please feel free to use it.
