NAS JRB New Orleans (KNBG) WIP
Re: NAS JRB New Orleans (KNBG) WIP
As long as you know how to convert XML code to an FS9 .BGL scenery file you're good to go? Want the code?

Matt here is the XML code for the default beacon object and effect:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<FSData version="9.0" xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance' xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="bglcomp.xsd">
<SceneryObject lat="47 25.89" lon="-122 18.43" alt="0" pitch="0" bank="0" heading="0" altitudeIsAgl="TRUE" imageComplexity="NORMAL">
<LibraryObject name="7f38bfbc4a40e2953c3f5c8482fa2c87" scale="1.0" />
<AttachedObject
attachpointName="attachpt_beacon">
<Beacon type="CIVILIAN" baseType="AIRPORT"/>
</AttachedObject>
</SceneryObject>
</FSData>
Copy all that on to a Notepad file, and then run it through BGLComp to get your FS9 bgl scenery file.
Set the lat/lon to where ever you want the beacon to be and change the "CIVILIAN" part to "MILITARY" if you want the military beacon instead. The base type "Airport" puts the beacon on that red and white small stand. I played around with a couple other terms and nothing worked but now that I think about it, if you change that to "TOWER" it might just give you the basic beacon object so that you can set it on a building or something else. I'll have to give that a shot and see what happens.

Re: NAS JRB New Orleans (KNBG) WIP
Thanks Mike, that will definently be useful, if I can ever get FS to work properly again.
Re: NAS JRB New Orleans (KNBG) WIP
I wanted to give a brief update on the progress of NBG. Shortly after my last update FS decided it was time for it to stop working on me. So I am building up the courage to reinstall FS and rebuild my set-up. Once that is done I will continue on the project. Thanks all for the intrest and help with this project, I hope to be back up and running next week.
Re: NAS JRB New Orleans (KNBG) WIP
Good luck getting yourself back up and running....... Look forward to updates on this excellent project..

Re: NAS JRB New Orleans (KNBG) WIP
Well after almost a month of rebuilding my home unit, and moving some of the work to my work computer, I now have an update. I have finished most of the landclass around the area. I gave up trying to move the mississippi, rather I have finished adding the intracoastal waterway just to the west of the base, as well as the Harvey Canal (north/south river), and the industrial canal that makes up the water runway at Southern Seaplane (65LA). I have also started building a representation of Southern Seaplane as well. I have finished the AFCAD for the NAS with the addition of the east complex with the engine test cells, the CALA, and the arm/de-arm area at the approach end of 32. I have also removed the IFOLS on runway 4 and placed them next to the CAP building on the T-Line, I did this to sync up with the note in the A/FD about the IFOLS being OTS.
A few questions are: Since VAW-77 moved from Atlanta to New Orleans in 2008, does anyone know if they park on the old VP ramp or the old AFRES ramp?

Looking good. I will see what I can find out, but I only have contact with active duty E-2 guys, they may know something about -77.

Re: NAS JRB New Orleans (KNBG) WIP
I think this is finally getting close to being finished. I still have some buildings to add to the base itself, and maybe some default bridges across the waterways. I have also updated the 122nd FS to now include all F-15C/D models, and eliminated the A/B models included in the SEANG package (what is the policy on releasing changes to the aircraft.cfg file in a package?). Southern Seaplane is complete with buildings and water runways. All I have left to do is make the Base Flight C-12 and the MASD C-12 and UC-35 flight plans. Here are some updated screenies for your viewing pleasure. As always questions and comments are greatly appreciated.

Re: NAS JRB New Orleans (KNBG) WIP
Well I think its very close to being done, finally. The other day I decided to completely re-do the AFCAD, the original just looked very sloppy. Now I think it looks much more professional and close to the quality and standard of MAIW. Are there any takers who would like to review the scenery and let me know of any improvments I can make? Here are some of the updated screenies I made today.

Matt, I'll take a look at it for you. It's always good to check it on multiple setups to see how it looks especially when it's that near a shoreline.

probably there's a wrong correspondence between texture's name folders and texture name in aircraft.cfg file

Re: NAS JRB New Orleans (KNBG) WIP
Is anyone else only getting a partial image of Zsolt's screenshots?
OK, everytime I reload the page more of the image shows up. Don't have a clue as to what's happening.
