Qatari Air Force base

G'morning folks,
I exchanged some PMs with Mirage4FS about the actual airport in which the Qatari Mirage 2000s are based.
In the flightplans I released I based the aircrafts at Al-Udeid. Mirage4FS underlined they should be based at Doha, and this is also confirmed from various sources, such as Scramble.nl.
When I compiled the plans I thought Scramble was not up to date. Today I took a further look and Al-Udeid is mentioned as a US naval base.
Any confirmation?
Where shall I base the Mirages? Shall they remain at Al-Udeid as in the flightplans or shall I change them and use Doha as a base?

If they remain at Al-Udeid they will need some place to park. I've been messing with them today and could not get them to display. I did finally find an AFCAD at avsim (otbh.zip) that provides parking and once installed the Qatari Mirage are there.

I've seen it mentioned that they are based at one or the other but far more often it says Doha. According to a writer at Wikipedia, "As of January 1993, all the air force's aircraft were based at Doha International Airport". Scramble.nl only lists one location for the entire Air Force -- Doha IAP.

One source says that Qatar built Al-Udeid so that the US would use it. And provide defense by their presence. Not a bad tactic.

Mirages are definitely not based at Al Udeid yet. I think they're planned to be eventually, but only their C-17's are there at the moment AFAIK.

When i was there in 03, they were at Doha across the runway from the commercial ramp! That was 6.5 years ago. I do knoe that they are not at Al Udeid.

Thanks for the info. I found an FS2004 scenery named "otbd.zip" by Frederic Revol at Avsim. This Doha scenery adds additional parking and separates the Mirages from the airliners and the general aviation. If you go with default they are all mixed together.

Well, I can do them too!
In the meantime you can use old plans for the Amiri Flight, just change the registrations and you're on the way.
