Yes indeed. The interim report will be released in a few days. I have been told by one of the rescue team about the condition Flt Lt Egging was in and which I will not be making public.

UPDATE The Reds were due to leave EGHH today but bad weather at Scampton has caused the RTB to be put off until Saturday, weather permitting. No time has been announced as the team want to leave without a fuss.
The RAF has said training is scheduled to restart next Tuesday as an 8 ship if the team feel up to it. They are a close knit "family" and are going through the grieving process. The funeral will be a private military one and as yet the date has not been announced.

A colleague reported seeing the wreckage of what once was a very red coloured aircraft being delivered to the storage facility at EGOS earlier this week. Speculation was that it was this aircraft. It certainly had a sufficiently large escort of vehicles to be special.

Some wreckage was removed to Boscombe Down on Tuesday with the rest going on Thursday. The crash site is now open to public again with a request that any small items they find to be reported to the police.

He may have survived for a very short time, his injuries were so severe he would not have lasted very long. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the rescue team. Certainly none of the public who witnessed the crash mentioned anything publicly about him being alive. The full inquest will be held later this year when the official investigation report is published. Until then its speculation.

Just come back from breakfast with some guys from the airport. Apparently Red 4 said on the teams UHF link he was "having problems" shortly before the Mayday call on the tower's VHF channel. Nothing points to a bird-strike as yet. The white bird found with blue "paint" on its feathers was in fact covered with the blue dye from the Hawk's under belly tank. His ejector seat and parachute were found close by the wreckage which indicates he may tried to eject at the last moment but may have been in a diving turn resulting in a ground impact resulting in the massive injuries he sustained. Looking at GE and from what I was told this morning Red 4 appears to have been attempting to line up for an emergency landing on the disused 17/35 runway at EGHH. (UPDATE) Was told last night that when the Mayday call was received in the tower they put put in place the airports crash procedures as they expected him to land back at the airport. The information here is NOT official so please do not post anywhere else.
UPDATE
The eight display planes, Red 10 and an all black Hawk left EGHH at around 12.15pm today (Saturday) to return to RAF Scampton. There was no publicity as the team wanted to leave quietly. They overflew the crash site in memorial to Flt Lt egging.
His private funeral will be held at St Mary the Virgin church in the village of Morcott, where he and his wife lived.

Yesterday the Red Arrows arrived at the Luchtmacht Open Dagen at Leeuwarden AB (the Netherlands). There were eight red Hawks and one black Hawk. According to Milspotters.nl the black one was XX284/CA and there was also a new red one, XX319.
The show for friday was cancelled because one of the pilots got ill and maybe, just maybe they were cancelling the saturday show too.

As is usual for the Red Arrows, the team rotates some of its pilots back into operational squadrons at the end of the season to give other RAF pilots a chance to fly with them. The 2012 team will have new pilots Flt Lt Jim McMillan (who replaces Flt Lt Egging as Red Four), Flt Lt Martin Pert and Flt Lt Michael Child, while Sqn Ldr Jim Turner returns to lead the team.
The new line-up will begin training as a nine-man team at RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire in mid-October when the 2011 season ends.
Flt Lt Egging’s widow, Emma, will be taking part in the Great North Run this weekend as the team display overhead. She is also taking her late husband’s place in a 400-mile charity bike ride.
The Jon Egging Trust has been set up in his memory and a memorial service is planned for Lincoln Cathedral on October 31.
