Rip,
Don't lose that code! Even though it's not what you meant to do, you might have the start to AI gliders and towplanes.

Well, the above IS a towed sailplane actually, it did not showed up by a chance, I did meant that
If all that stuff does work for different height / airport conditions (what I start to test now) I plan to make such different models:
Code: Select all
Antonov An-2 models
=================
model= .mdl name:
wheel RWAI An-2 Wheel.MDL Wheeled version, basic
door RWAI An-2 Door.MDL Wheeled version, open door when silent
tow RWAI An-2 Tow.MDL Wheeled version, door, a towed sailplane
para RWAI An-2 Para.MDL Wheeled version, door, paratrooper jumps
banner RWAI An-2 Banner.MDL Wheeled version, door, a banner towing (with MAIW logo on for example :))
ski RWAI An-2 Ski.MDL Ski winter version, no open door actually but an engine cover (it's WINTER!)
PS. I couldn't find a pic of towing in action but this one could prove it:

In answer to the question as to where the one is based around Leicester, I'm fairly sure that it's the one from Spanhoe, about 1/3 of the way between Peterborough and Leicester. They have one there, but I'm not sure what it's used for.

Rip, you probably have found this site yourself, but just in case you didn't :

Loads of info on this lovely bird to be found here !
Cheers,
Marco

Yes ... I browsed all An-2 sites I think (not too much of them but there are some).
And in the meantime - here's strictly confidential pic, showing experiments with new candy features, over MAIW Field:

Yep

:
Both two different candies (sailplane & jumping paratroopers) at once, just for testing purposes.
Objects shown are not ready yet, of course

You're such a magician...

Who, me? I am just a regular point pusher ...
Expect the real magic from a very well known FDE magician however - RWAI An-2 Beta 1.0 was sent there already.
I've got some very interesting info, regarding exotic An-2 military inventory, including serials (thanks Marco!):
Code: Select all
Bulgaria 1
Estonia 2
Indonesia 1
Latvia 5
Libya 1
Lithuania 5
Macedonia 1
Moldova 1
Nicaragua 3
Poland 23
Romania 10
South Korea 10
even
United States 4
91-00074 An-2 US Army / ATEC - ATSA Det. apr03 shown as ‘10074’
91-06555 An-2 US Army / OTSA jul96 shown as ‘16555’
92-02258 An-2R US Army / TSMO oct05 shown as ‘22258’
N50670 An-2 USAF / 6th SOS, Hurlburt Field, FL 16nov06
The real crowd suppose to be in Russia, Ukraine, China and North Korea...
So, expecting true cold winters east from here:

Sailplane version is ready,
now back to the paratroopers ...

That sailplane version is going to make for some "interesting" parking in the AFCADS...!!
Really looking forward to this, got a soft spot for biplanes and there aren't many AI ones about!!

Heh Alex, the sailplane is somewhere in heaven when An-2 is at parking spot
it does show up just after take-off and lasts until descending to land ...

Looking nice !
This might sound silly, but could you hide the sailplane inside the An-2's fuselage, with it's wings folded back and horizontal stabilizers folded up ?
I have visions of overflying an airfield where the An-2 is parked and crashing into a sailplane in mid-air

Hiding in is actually technically possible but more sophisticated (a swing-wing sailplane? Mmmmm).
There's no need for this here, the sailplane shows up during flight only, so there is no real threat of collision during An-2 is parked.
Well - but if the community will request this ... a barrage balloon would fit better maybe?
BTW-

I see them from time to time that's why I love them:

All the above pics by RipPipPip, that's why these are not quite of Airliners.net quality

What will trigger the parachutists dropping, getting to a certain height?
Posted: 13 Apr 2007, 16:10
by RipPipPip
I couldn't get any height trigger to work - those piston engine AI are much more indigent in features than turboprops or jets (I'm not sure if any height trigger works in AI).
The working trigger is VELOCITY BODY Z, it's not ideal but fits enough.

So the parachutes drop when the aircraft reaches a set speed?
Posted: 13 Apr 2007, 20:09
by RipPipPip
Yep.
Just like that:
I wouldn't do it by myself (my only one parachute event was just to float after motor boat in Tunisia)
