Aha,sorry Jon, I was led astray by the references to FSX in the above posts. In that case forget about GUIDs, FriendlyNames and animation/viz tags. Designing for FS9 is a lot more straight forward because you can use standard part names.

I wish I could advise you on exporting LODs with FSDS, but I use Gmax and it's no different to exporting anything else so long as the LODS ARE named correctly. There are plenty of people here who could give FSDS advice though if you run into a problem.

If you would like to PM me your e-mail address Jon, I'll send you some code and instructions to make a pilot disappear when the aircraft is cold. It's generic to both FSDS and Gmax and it would be a good introduction to xml triggers ahead of a more ambitious foray into helicopter lift animation.

LODs are done and textured, so that's not a problem. Since I've never exported LODs on my flyable models, I wouldn't know what the naming convention would for them to work. A paintkit is also no big deal for me, I like to get the community involved for projects like this and flyable models. The XML lift animations, I wouldn't have the slightest clue in programming that, although I do use plenty of custom animations on my models, etc. The model will be for FS2004 and FSX, since I don't do portovers whatsoever. Are ther any specifics on AI models that I should know? This is my first AI, so I like to give a good impression. I also have a Hughes 500D that's extremely low poly. I can remove the interior stuff, etc and do an AI conversion. Anyone have interest in that helicopter?

The Hughes 500D would certainly get my vote!

+1 here, also I know we have a UH-1 WIP, but an AH-1 is also on my list. Not sure if your B222 would get much use as AI, not too many out there flying. Other AI military use training helos would be a R44, Schweizer, or maybe your Enstrom, as a few countries have them. I think starting with the B206 was a great idea.

Yes, that one is very cool. That's how a helicopter was supposed to look a long time ago. Or like the Alouettes II.

Sent from mobile hence short

I've always wanted to do an AI Bell 222, I may do one afterall. I have the original source files as sent by Alan Devins 6 years ago from early builds with zero animations or details, to the latest with everything built in. The fuselage itself is about close to 3,000 polys in an early development model, other parts are low poly compared to what I have on the latest models ;)
