Any update for this package? I was wondering how close it is to release.

Hi Chris

All buildings are modelled and textured for the day time. I am currently modelling GSE.

Below is a couple of screens of it as it is.

That looks extremely good, Ian! I can't wait to see this in P3D. I assume that it will blend with PlayHorizon VFR UK Photographic Scenery?

Thanks . I assume it will as it blends in with Orbx. The only downside/limitation to the P3D version as any custom ground lights will not work.

Ian, as usual your stuff is the canine appendages.

Why is it that some developers can get custom ground lights to work in P3D, and others can't? Gary Summons seems to do just fine with his UK2000 airports, although even he admits that they are faint at long range.

Some can yes I am sure, however I don't how to do so and I have already placed all the edge lighting with the original method. I'm not excited about re placing them again despite the fact I use P3d as my main simulator.

I think pay ware developers like Gary Summons have no choice but to find a way to make them work no matter how time consuming as they cant sell a product that doesn't work properly.

I just want to be clear that I was not criticising you, Ian. Quite a few PAYWARE developers do not seem to know how to solve the custom lighting problem in P3D, which is what baffles me.

No worries Chris

I didn't think you were criticising me. LOL. There are ways to do the lighting. I just couldn't get it to work and given the problem with them being dim and also the larger hit on FPS I just gave up and did it the same way as was done at Wattisham.

Did you manage to get the scenery installed ok? I wasn't sure if there was anything missing seeing that I missed the sat image the first time.

Wow - starting in FSX somewhere and landing in Lakenheath reality - outstanding work and extraordinary details....

I will check it tonight, Ian. Manual installation is easy, so I just need to load it up.

Another update on the scenery.

Its coming along nicely now, I am aiming for it to be finished by Christmas which gives me a bit of breathing room as there is not that much to do really.

I will not be releasing to the large sites when it is finished. Going forward with ACG closed my projects will either be released on this site or on a file sharing account.

I have been doing some thinking ahead to when I start my next project and I've narrowed it down to three options but cannot decide which to do . All three I have more material on than I did for Lakenheath so that's a bonus.

The three options are Mildenhall, Wittering or Cottesmore.

This looks really fantastic !!

On the 'July Community Update' on the MAIW frontpage it says that this scenery is for FS9 as well... It would be even more fantastic if that is true... Is it ?

The three possible options you mention for your next possible project all sound great... Mildenhall would be my favorite of these three.
