Personally, I'd like to know where to find this program also.

Would you post the link to it, please?

Thanks.

Ford

Edit-Nevermind.. found it at http://www.projectai.com/library_archiv ... fileid=546

When you go to use it, just place the renum.exe file into your aircraft folder that you want it to renumber the .cfg entries for, then run it and voila, it does all the renumbering for ya.

That seems both awkward and strange.

Renum.exe doesn't take parameters, I guess?

Oh well. Thanks for the tip anyway.

KevinJarvis wrote:OK...now that I'm home I can comment after experimenting...

I have 214 entries in my MAIW_HTAI_F16C_Shaw folder.
But the entries skip from 150 to 202...even after using Renum.

Not sure what has caused this as I know that before using Renum all the entries were correct...

This is probably what I mentioned in my pm, Kev. all the [fltsim.x] entries MUST have a lower case 'f', if it has upper case 'F' it will ignore them. Check for that.

All fixed now.
All entries were lower case, so I'm not sure how my numbering got all messed up.
Anyway, it's fixed. Now all I have to do is experiment to see if my aircraft above the number 200 are visible.

There was, back in the day, a big question mark over the 200 entry limit or not. As I said back then 200 is a strange limit for number it would make more sense for 256 to have been a limit, binary wise for programming purposes.
It emerged that the reason this came about was that a lot of people use the ACA2005 written by the excellent Peter van der Veen for checking for errors. When the program was initially written there was only civilian traffic to take into account and they did not use individual regs, so there were less schemes for an individual folder. 200 seemed like a natural limit for him as you were never get more than 200 different 737-300s, for example.

Then came along MAIW, then came along people that liked to tinker (yep i am guilty) and we combined folders. All of a sudden the problem was born, as ACA2005 started warning that there were more than 200 in a folder. Like a lot of Chinese whispers this issue become an MS problem with FS9 and the urban legend was born.

Peter later on amended ACA2005 so that you had the option of ignoring that limit. So the problem was fixed but the myth is remembered.

I think that about covers it and why your are fine with your 600+ F-16s. Just remember to use the latest version of ACA2005 when checking for errors.
