I mistyped in my last post. That should have read over 1 Terabyte of external storage for under $150. Sorry.
I understood the suggestion as a "here's a hardware solution to your losing data problem". That's no longer my issue for the most part. After I came out of the hospital, my family and friends insisted on updating and automating my backup hardware and procedures. So, that's been taken care of - if I lose anything due to hardware failure now, it's 30 minutes or less to a complete restoration of over 1 terabyte of data.
With over 50GB of installed non-default FSX scenery, aircraft and data objects, I am pretty comfortable with the current setup.
As noted before, my issue now has to do with "gray matter functionality loss". "Losing" an Excel file or Access database (system) now is more likely because I have forgotten how to make it work as opposed to literally losing or corrupting the file.
