early morning at SOKOL AB ...................

scenery can be found at avsim r u. i added more parking to the afcad and had to change
the parking radius to 100, to make the SU27's show up ! anyway 20 fracture camo 27's flying from SOKOL are
ready for you guys at my site.

100m radius? That is way too much. The default FS9 mdl setting is 22m, which I altered to match the real world size of 11m. You can use afcad or Martin's AI-Aircraft Editor to do this. It should make life much more comfortable.

yeah really 100  they never showed up other wise, unless it was something else

Had same problem at Kubinka, only Mig29 on show untill I increased parking space today to 100 then lots of Su27's.
However I have nothing at Sokol even when I created a new parking area with increased size parking.
Ray can you confirm parking code for Sokol and which afcad have you downloaded from avsimrus?
Found three of Rays SU27's at Lajes.

Great job Ray!
Just a question: I got the Sokol scenery from Avsim.ru, but can't see any building. Do I have to install something else before?

the scenery i downloaded and used was called "7767_sokolsakhalin" the scenery install instructions are in the RUS_SOKOL_USOK folder. i changed all the parking by changing them to mil_combat and removing the parking codes and increasing them to 100 in size. then your SU27's should all show up.

I obviously did something wrong as I decreased the mdl size to 11m and they showed up w/o modifications to the afcad.
Can I ask what size your model is then guys? As I am wondering if there are two versions out there one with a reasonable size and one somewhat on the large size.

which bit of text are you after steve, i dont know which one it is in the afcad but the wing_span = 122.296 does that help ?

In my AFCADs I set 22 m. radius for parking spots.
It's the value indicated in Aircraft Editor of Afcad and Aircraft Editor by Maritn

Ray, that only helps for FSX. That sets the model size according to the wingspan. It has its problems, like in this case when the FDE designer has used a greater wingspan than reality to achieve some kind of flight characteristic. In this case 122.296 feet comes out to 37.276m. Halve that and you have 18.638m radius.
This is much bigger than the real world 48 ft 3" ,14.7 m, (48 ft 3 in) which would work out at 7.35m radius.

Now in FS9 it takes the size of the actual mdl which has been compiled. You can't see it anywhere obvious but if you use either Martin's tool or AFCAD, using the Aircraft Editor under the Tools menu, they will show you the mdl size and allow you to alter it.
The downside of the FS9 method is that if you compile other things into the mdl, like drag chutes, refuelling hoses, ground equipment, then that will increase the size of the mdl. Which is why some models appear further away when you look at the rotating model in the aircraft selection window. It also takes into account the length of the aircraft

Now one thing you will have spotted is that FSX does not take into account the length of an aircraft. In the Su-27 case in real life its 21.9m (72 ft) so a radius of 10.95m. So a spot radius of 11m fits it nicely.

So in a nutshell for FSX the spots have to be at least 18.75m for the aircraft to show up, wingspan. In FS9 they have to be 22m, for mdl compilation. When in fact they only need to 11m, for length.

Have I confused you?
