Why hasn't anyone mentioned Creedance Clearwater Revival, its not a good morning unless at least one CCR song is heard.

As a relative youngster here, I have to draw the line at some of the above choices - but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone really...

Good to see that I'm not the only one here who's musical interest includes Latin America - I love the sounds of both Cuba and Brazil.

And I have to say I will never forget seeing Stevie Wonder on the Jonathon Ross show, speaking in a perfect "Brummy" accent! That man is pure musical genius...


What sort of sound is CCR? (Yes, I know, showing my fresh-faced age again. Gimme a break, I was probably still in diapers)

Again the sound of late sixties and onwards. It was John Fogerty's band. A good comment above from Matt - it is music that makes your morning better.
Oh, and another great band from that period of time is Canned Heat, whom I have seen in Basel in the 90s.

Most of these bands still give absolute stunning performances. You can tell that they are not doing it because money runs out but because they still have fun.

I have to admit, I havn`t heard of these other bands you are talking about. Looks like another trip into you tube world for me.
Crosby stills & nash, America, Bruce Hornsby & the range, Mike and the mechanics etc. Nice music to have on when driving.

For me it was bands like E.L.P., Rush, The Alan Parsons Project, Yes and Elkie Brooks

I used to like Kraftwork. They were from your part of the world wern`t they.

MIKE OLDFIELD, now he was good.A little strange at times,but good.

Kraftwerk, 808 State... They were the pioneers who inspired much of what I listened to in the nineties.

And Mike Oldfield went to my school , long before me, of course!

Yes, Kraftwerk were pioneers for electronic music. It was the time when some German bands were internationally recognized for the first time and the phrase Krautrock was established. Birth Control (check out Gamma Ray), Amon Düül, Jane, Frumpy (with Inga Rumpf), Guru Guru, Tangerine Dream, Novalis... does that ring a bell for anybody?

Kiss fan since 1975, seen them more times than I can count, they are currently in Europe on Tour, if you live across the pond be sure to check them out if you can.

I think Lois Griffin is a fan too?

I see you live not far from Patrick AFB. My in laws used to live not far from you, between Melbourne & Vero beach, in a small place called Sebastian. Alas, the old farts moved to Spain as they didn`t like the long flights (I was pis*ed about that because it was a cheap holiday for me & the family). To cut a long story short, you live in a great part of the world & I would dearly love to live there. You are a luck guy.

I remember one tour in Europe where the support band for Kiss were Bon Jovi, obviously before they made it big.

Speaking of support bands, I saw ZZ Top open for Alice Cooper back in 73 -74.

The first concert I ever went to was The Rolling Stones, November, 1964 at Cleveland Public Hall. Seen em again in 65 at Detroit's Cobo Hall and again in 66 at the old Cleveland Arena. Saw the Beatles at Cleveland Municipal Stadium in 66 also. Others I've seen; Paul Revere and the Raiders, Sonny and Cher, Jethro Tull, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, David Bowie, Blue Oyster Cult, Cactus, John Sebastian, Steve Miller Band. There's probably a few I left out due to brain damage from being under the influence.

Yeah, I always watched support bands you never knew what gems you would see. I remember that David Coverdale's Whitesnake supported Judas Priest, his first tour after leaving 'Purple and also the first time I saw Iron Maiden was supporting 'Priest.

Ronnie James Dio has passed away today. R.I.P Ronnie.

As these people pass from my childhood...it really reminds me of my own mortality. See ya' RJD!
