Sorry about the delay in getting the fix out the door. I had some bad news on saturday that put a damper on getting things done, and I was away most of sunday, and monday was, well, monday ;)

As most of the patrols flown out of Ukrainka are in the extremely long haul category (shortest mission is 17½ hours), I decided to chop the number of them down and instead I've thrown in some shorter flights to various confirmed Russian military ranges, as well as a variety of waypoints. Don't worry, they'll still be spotted around Alaska, US Pacific Northwest, Hawaii and near Guam.

The Engels-2 plans are roughly the same, although they also got a couple of military ranges (Ashuluk, Mulino, Sukhoy Nos, etc.).

Tu-22M and Tu-160 plans are unchanged. I've removed some old support aircraft plans from Ukrainka, as they weren't mine to begin with and weren't meant to be included

Voicemods are also included, most of which are best guess. The sound bank isn't exactly rich on Russian place names to work with

The readme isn't finished yet, as I've still got to sort out how to explain installing the support fleet at Belaya.

I'll leave both packages here until friday before uploading them to AVSIM, so please let me know if you find a problem.

TU-160 is stated as unavailable in the readme. However I found it (and the two paints) in the Tomalchevo Traffic pack (UNNT_Traf.zip on avsim.rus) if anyone wants it.

Nice find, thanks for that! :D

Even if the model can't land, it still looks good taking off

For anybody who doesn't read back into the forum, Sergey Bunevich is working on an AI Tu-160 model that he hopes to finish sometime in the future. However, he is from Ukraine, so we'll just sit on that information for the present, and send him some good thoughts and prayers.

Here are some little friends for those Bears..... These are finished single-LOD masters for the six core models, and will be the basis of the entire project run.

I just realised, I forgot all about the Russian Naval bears :|

Found some scenery for Fedotovo and Yelizovo (although the AFCAD for the latter is horrible, and I think I saw some Mongokhto scenery in one of the Russian threads here. Will have to see if I can come up with something over the weekend. No away trips for the football this weekend, so I might actually get things done

Oh, and apparently I flubbed the first upload to AVSIM. Will have to fix that tomorrow as well...

Fedotovo is also (more widely?) known as Kipelovo. Similarly, Mongokhto is Kamenny Ruchey or Sovetskaya Gavan. It is or was also a home to Backfires. There's Severomorsk, too. I have all installed; I'm sure it was Avsimrus.

Kamenny Ruchey is actually just about 10 miles north of Vanino. Sovgavan' is a bit south of there. There are local civilian flights that go into there from Khabarovsk (I made that flight once), and I think that one is Maygatka. There is also an airfield at Zaveti Ilycha (Lenin's Commandments, nice name huh?) which is a small naval port, or at least it was back in the day.

And sure enough -- you can see those backfires parked on the ramp at Kam Ruchey. And I guess those are Tu-142 Bear F's parked there as well....

EDIT: The airfield at Zaveti Ilycha is called Postovaya and I can find nothing about it online. It may no longer be operational -- doesn't look like it. The naval base is really nothing, just a small homeport for a couple border guards patrol vessels (small). And from what I have read, they used to park old nuclear subs here while they were waiting to be scrapped.

I'm pretty sure Fedotovo/Kipelovo and Mongokhto/Kamenny Ruchey/Sovetskaya Gavan are the only two airbases with active Tu-142's. I could've sworn they were at Yelizovo too, but I may have confused them with the Il-38 (which I'm also planning for, since the UTT model can't be too far away).

Of course, both airbases also have a stack of stored aircrafts, so figuring out which ones are active is a bit of a guessing game. The number ranges from 15 to 24 depending on where you look. Google Earth suggest 28 in total are parked (17 at Fedotovo, 11 at Mongokhto - but there's a huge cloud that may be hiding more), but looking at Russianplanes.net, a number of those at Fedotovo are definantly in long term storage (engines removed for starters). I was able to pick up 14 bort numbers at Fedotovo and another 7 at Mongokhto, spread roughly evenly on the MR/MK/MZ variants (7/8/6).

Edit: Actually, make that 17 at Mongokhto as well, the historic imagery function had more recent images without any cloud coverage.

Here's the heart of the order (baseball slang), the MiG-23MF Flogger-B, with a lot of multi-generational paints. Please note this set of screenshots is for one variant only, so no short-tail MLA/MLE/MLD/PD models here; nor is this the original production MiG-23M model. But within the MF world, I think this is a more-or-less complete representation of this variant over twenty years or so. The MiG-23 was produced in comparable numbers with its intended counterpart, the F-4 Phantom II, so the paint count will be comparable over the run of this project.

This was accomplished with a simple FS9 AI flight plan from six carefully placed virtual waypoints just outside the AI bubble west of Miramar to six others just outside the AI bubble east of Miramar. The view from below for this particular screenshot was taken from the virtual cockpit of Ronald R. Cachemaille's Mobile Control Tower placed near the tower in the NAS Miramar scenery included in the MAIW TopGun package. Maverick's and Iceman's F-14A's were also included in that package, but I had to modify their AI FDE's so that they would fly in formation with the MPAI Tu-95 Bears.

I'm happy that you liked the screenshots. :D

As promised earlier, here's the Kamenny Ruchey Bears & Backfires, I'll upload the Fedotovo Bears tomorrow. If you're using the scenery by scottr5213 (http://www.militaryaiworks.com/newforum ... =40#p99103) or this scenery from AvsimRus, you'll need to reduce the model radius to 25 meters. For some reason, setting it to 26 (the parking radii in both sceneries) won't work.

I haven't seen any specific Naval repaints for the Backfire, but there doesn't appear to be a difference from the Air Force markings (Red star & bort number), so you can use those for the time being.

High Over The Gulf Of Sidra in August, 1981

Above is a photo of A U.S. Navy McDonnell F-4J Phantom II of Fighter Squadron VF-74 Be-Devilers escorting a Libyan Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 over Gulf of Sidra in August 1981.

Mike asked me to see how well I could duplicate this real life scene in FS9. Since there were obviously two VF-74 Be-Devilers' F-4J's escorting the Libyan Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 and Mike had supplied me with both, I included them both in the following screenshots. 8)

Enjoy!

As promised, Fedotovo/Kipelovo. I'm using http://www.avsimrus.com/f/fs2004-scener ... 15297.html which seems to work out of the box.
