Pete,
Let me summarize this: You start AIAE, it comes up looking normal, but you can not operate it. Not being able to operate it means exactly what?

Is the last aircraft folder selected (in case you have that option enabled)?
Do you see the listed [fltsim.x] sections on the top right?
Can you change the aircraft folder with the folder tree on the left?
Is any of the menu options (like validate aircraft for example) operable?
And since you say that everything works when you close and restart the program - does it fail to work again when you close and restart it a second time?

Thanks for the feedback, it might help to figure it out because I can't replicate it.
Martin

Yes when I first start AIAE and navigate to the aircraft folder then I get no response from the program. I select an aircraft but there is no information displayed on the right-hand-side of the window (no FLTSIM.0, no info under General data.

if I then close down AIAE and re-start everything comes up properly. Subsequent closures/openings of the program seem to be fine. but if I then restart the PC then I get the same event.

Am going to remove AIAE and re-install and see if that makes any difference.

Hi Martin

It would seem that it was a problem with my system and not your program. After de-installing
and re-installing from a fresh download AIAE works perfectly. I have also loaded it onto my
laptop (FS9/FSX test rig), and that worked straight away as well.

Apologies if I have caused you extra work, I should have re-installed first before bringing it up on
the Forum.

Pete,

You are one of the few people who actively participate in testing and driving the development of the program. Please don't apologize for anything. I am most grateful for the help you and the other active participants here are giving me.

Martin

Thanks for your kind words. I find that it is a very useful program and I still have not used
all of its capabilities. I am slowly progressing through all my A/C Folders and have found all
sorts of errors that would stop an AI Aircraft showing up. Keep up the good work its very
much appreciated by me :D

The download file contains the installer

Please check version 2.1.23 here

Changes:
fixed: comments behind [fltsim.x] sections are respected --> Steve, does it work for you?

Martin,
It moves the comments to start in column 25 but to be fair I can live with that. The comments are there.

Hi Martin. Just downloaded the latest patch and installed as administrator, and the delete function worked a treat. The cfg entry disappeared and the texture folder went as well. Thank you for that :D

Steve has found that the 'delete keys' was working correctly, but reported a wrong number of deleted keys. This is fixed now. You may want to run 'check for updates'.

Don't use the 'Delete keys' function - I fear I have implemented a data killing bug yesterday...

Hi Martin

Is there a way to delete all comments :?:

had a look through the program today and can''t see it. Basically I would like to remove all
comments both after // and ;

It might be just me but I like to keep my Aircraft.cfg files free of any unwanted stuff :D

Please update to 2.1.25. This fixes the bug introduced with 2.1.24 in the 'delete keys' function. Furthermore this version can now deal with more than 1200 [fltsim.x] sections. A user found a limitation around 700.

Pete,
I will add this with the next release.

The download file contains the installer

Please check version 2.1.27 here

Changes:
added: Whitelist that remembers the keys you want to keep and - if in Autoselect mode - marks all other keys for removal --> Steve, does it work for you?
added: menu Tools -> 'Remove all comments' --> Pete, does that work for you?
changed: when to load the small or large form on some exotic resolutions

It took me quite some weeks to figure out a good way to do the whitelisting (change 1). In case you have questions enable the tool tips :-)

I am off for two days. Have fun.

Love the new features - will have to download some aircraft to test the whitelist fully, but great how it's implemented!! The remove comments seems to work fine - should a .owl file be generated as a backup when deleting comments from configs with the backup option selected or are you confident this is 100% working, therefore not required. Thanks for the improvements!!

If not then I have forgotten to implement it, Dinga. All changes to the aircraft.cfg should generate an .owl backup if the respective option is set and a backup file does not already exists. This way you can always revert back to the original before any AIAE changes. It can't happen that you overwrite a backup file with another already screwed up version.

The download file contains the installer

Please check version 2.1.28 here

Changes:
fixed: Backup of aircraft.cfg before format & remove comments --> Thank you, Dinga :smt001

Now I am really off.
