Very cool USN specials. Looked over the model read-me, anything special to add these FS9 paints to the FSX native model?

A question for painters. So the paintkit is 2048x2048 and I wanted to knock out a quick paint for a particular navy to tide me over until the proper painters have a go at it. Now I'm no painter but all this is is a roundel and some text.

My paint looks reasonably OK in the paintkit but when I resize it to 1024x1024 for FS9 it looks horrible. Lots of the panel lines are lost and some of the layers become mis-aligned. Obviously detail is going to be lost but I didn't expect it to look so bad.

So how do the experts do it as the paints released so far look much better and still have all the panel lines? I'm not specifying a specific resize method, just using the default in PSP. I suspect this is it as using scale in ffmpeg gives really good results bit it's a hell of a faff .

You shouldn't be getting things misaligned from a resize. Sounds like it's only grabbing a few layers instead of the whole image

In the save options. Choose save copy as.

I save the image as a.tga.

Open this .tga with DXT1 Bitmap manipulator. I import the alpha channel now. Save as .tga again, writing over the original.

Open the image now with Imagetool. Save the image as a bitmap.

Open this new bitmap

Create bitmaps.

Extract bitmaps.

Look for the size of the 1024x1024 bitmap. Click on the x, top right to close it. Save this one and close. Now close image tool and do not save the other images.

You will be left with the original bitmap and one with the same name save for _0 or _1 before the .bmp

When you place the desired bitmap in your texture folder rename it by removing the _0 or _1 at the end of the name.

Sounds complicated but goes quickly after you have done it a few times.

Here is the second half of the IDF project, 124 Squadron.

Bismark has provided flight plans and new scenery for this project, so please read his readme file included so that you can set it up right.

Bring on the IASF Battle Hawks! Just kidding JY, no need for another model! The Israelis do add some cool kits to their aircraft.

So here are the current NAS Whidbey Island SAR birds

Firewood - 758 (2015)
Image

Firewood - 775 (2015)
Image

Firewood - 291 (2015)

I also did two older paint schemes

Firewood - 758 (ca. 2011, before it got the current white/red paint scheme)
Image

Firewood - 317 (ca. 2006)

And finally I slightly updated my NAS Patuxent RIver SAR Sea Hawk.
So you might want to download the v2 version and simply replace the older file.
